boatfolk announces new subscription model: Beyonder

boatfolk is expanding its offering with the launch of Beyonder. This boat subscription service, starting next March, will enable people to borrow a boat for a day, or longer.

Initially six boats will be available from Haslar Marina and three from Portland Marina and will in include a range of new and nearly new motor and sailing yachts. Membership comes with an integrated training package.

Each member will have their chosen ‘home’ boat, where they can book advance stays throughout the season as well as days on other boats in the same class for no additional cost.

“When the opportunity came up to launch something which allows people the experience of being afloat without having to worry about all the details which can make boating challenging, it seemed like a perfect fit with what boatfolk already do,” says Piers Covill, Beyonder’s MD. “It’s great to be welcoming more people into the community without them having to worry about things like trailering, storage, cleaning insurance and maintenance. All of our boats are safety checked, fuelled and ready to go so all you need to do is get your crew together.”

According to Dominic Zammit, director at boatfolk, ‘Beyonder’ provides an essential bridge for those that want to get on the water but haven’t yet managed to navigate the barriers of entry to boat ownership.

“At boatfolk, our mission is to create great places for anyone who wants to spend time in, on or by the water. The launch of Beyonder is the next step in realising that mission and to creating a nationwide community of boaters for now, and for the next generation,” says Zammit.

Monthly costs are expected to range from £370 for a Yamarin 63DC motor boat with single Yamaha outboard to £790 for a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 380 or Elan Impression 40.1 sailing yacht.
