British Marine Board votes Ian Cooke as next President Elect

Congratulations to Ian Cooke, Owner/MD of C-Quip Ltd based in Fareham, who has been voted in by the Board as British Marine’s next President Elect.

Ian is due to take up his new role at July’s AGM (Tuesday 17 July), where the membership will be required to ratify all three Presidential positions. David Pougher’s term as President will formerly come to an end and he will be succeeded by Greg Munford, MD of Richardsons Leisure. David will take up the post of Immediate Past President and complete the make-up of the new presidential team at British Marine.

Commenting on his appointment, Ian said: “I am immensely proud to have been appointed President Elect and treat the opportunity as a great honour. I have very much appreciated the opportunity to work with David Pougher as President, the existing board of directors and the team at Marine House. It has been an inspirational period of learning for me, and I can now look forward to working with Greg Munford as the incoming President of British Marine.

“The marine world has been at the very heart of my life for as long as I can remember. Sailing and watersports eventually led me to Warsash Maritime College, which opened the door to yacht racing and a very happy time working on privately owned yachts. Having also gained invaluable experience at Hamble Yacht Services, Aladdin’s Cave Chandlery and Kelvin Hughes, I joined C-Quip Marine Equipment in 1998. Now twenty years on, I am proud to own and run the business alongside Onward Trading and a number of other marine companies.

“I have been proud to work with British Marine South for several years now, and having served as Chairman of that association, I joined the British Marine Boat Shows Board almost three years ago. The amalgamation of Boat Shows Board with the Management Board has streamlined British Marine’s governance structure and triggered a period of development and improvement that will take the organisation forward and ensure it continues to provide invaluable services and Boat Shows to its members for years to come.

“I offer my full commitment to the team at Marine House, the Board and, most importantly, the British Marine membership. I look forward to taking up the challenge and supporting Greg over the next twelve months.”

Details of British Marine’s AGM will be published in the Events Diary in due course.
