UK Marine Equipment Company C-Quip chose the 20th-anniversary Seawork to launch the world’s first throwable, inflatable type IV Personal Floatation Device (PFD).

The TD2401 is the world’s first Type IV inflatable throwable flotation device on the market. It has gained Lloyds Type Approval and U.S. Coast Guard approval with MED Certification and International patents pending.

The re-packable Throw Raft can be thrown up to 40ft whilst packed or fully inflated. It can be manually activated to inflate or will auto-inflate when submerged. Deployed, it has a minimum buoyancy of 90N and measures 56cm x 53cm.

Ian Cooke, C-Quip MD commented: “The concept behind this throwable PFD comes from the storage and usability issues that come with the usual horseshoe and ring buoys. The key design features are that it is five times smaller than the square cushion and nine times smaller than the standard life ring, making it very easy to store and throw.”

The space saving, inventive safety device has gained U.S Coastguard approval, becoming the only inflatable throwable device type IV on the market to achieve this approval, making it the first of its kind.

The TD2401 Mounting Case is a UV resistant container that perfectly stores the packed TD2401 and protects it from the elements. Made of strong ASA-Geloy plastic, it is easily mountable on most centre consoles, bulkheads, and sailboat railings. The ThrowRaft is available to view on the C-Quip stand, PB71 at the show on the website.
