Cantieri di Pisa reports construction milestone on 40-metre custom superyacht

Cantieri di Pisa Custom 40m in-build Superstructure work is progressing towards completion

Italian boatbuilder Cantieri di Pisa has provided an update on the construction of its 40m custom superyacht, with structural and outfitting work advancing across multiple areas of the vessel.

The hull of the 450-GT vessel has been completed, while work on the first level of the superstructure has reached around 90 per cent. The stern block is in the final stages of structural work and is scheduled for assembly in the coming weeks. Interior fitting out has also begun. In parallel, the technical-production department is constructing the flybridge.

Marco Massabò, CEO of Cantieri di Pisa, says: “We recently had a meeting with the owner and his team, with whom we continue to have a relationship based on great mutual trust at both personal and professional level.

“This is the first boat built by Cantieri di Pisa after the change of direction, and the fact that it’s a fully bespoke project requires the development of design solutions that make no compromises on quality standards. The yacht’s generous volumes, compared to market standards, have allowed us to further optimise liveability at sea.”

Work has recently started on the structure of the crew accommodation areas, ahead of installation. Hull fittings are nearing completion, with initial base components already installed on board.

Green teak has been selected for the deck. The hard top and bow sunpad on the upper deck are being produced in composite materials.

The exterior finish features a metallic silver livery referencing the Akhir 118 Nena, a 36.21-metre motor yacht launched in 2009 by Cantieri di Pisa; the first in its Akhir 118 semi-custom series. The brand’s black stripes and mouldings are reinterpreted in a dark metallic grey.

The internal layout includes six cabins. The master suite is positioned forward on the main deck and includes a fixed terrace on the port side, as well as a sliding glass door with one-way privacy technology. A VIP cabin and four guest cabins are located on the lower deck. Crew accommodation includes four cabins, with separate spaces for the captain and first officer on the upper deck.

A 6.6m tender and a selection of water toys are carried on board. Domestic facilities include a galley, multiple pantries, dedicated refrigeration areas and a laundry space, alongside storage across all decks.

The yacht is designed for extended use on board and is also configured for charter operations. Entertainment systems are integrated throughout the vessel.

Power is provided by two 1,550hp MAN V12 engines, delivering a reported top speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots. Range is stated at 2,000 nautical miles. The yacht is being built to Bureau Veritas Charter class certification.

Cantieri di Pisa was founded in 1945 in Limite sull’Arno and moved to Darsena Pisano in 1956. The shipyard has delivered more than 700 yachts between 1945 and 2012. It was acquired in 2021 by Enrico Gennasio.
