CMC Boat Group acquires Outerlimits Powerboats

CMC Boat Group has acquired Outerlimits Powerboats, with new owners Wally Castro and Scot Conrad planning to invest in the performance boatbuilder, including a new manufacturing facility less than five miles from its existing factory.

Outerlimits Powerboats is known for distinctive styling and handcrafted construction. The brand has previously featured at the Southampton Boat Show, including the 52ft Outerlimits Good Boy Vodka in 2025. Southampton Boat Show reveals 2025 attendance figures.

The partnership, led by marine industry professionals Castro and Conrad, says the acquisition is intended to preserve Outerlimits’ handcrafted construction, performance engineering and distinctive design while providing additional resources and infrastructure for the business.

“Outerlimits is an iconic brand with a tremendous heritage and a very loyal following,” Castro says. “Scot and I both understand what this brand means to performance boat owners. We’re not looking to change what makes Outerlimits special. We’re looking to build on it, invest in it and give the brand the opportunity to reach its full potential.”

The new manufacturing facility will provide expanded capabilities and resources while maintaining the craftsmanship and attention to detail associated with Outerlimits, according to the new ownership team.

The acquisition brings together two marine industry veterans with backgrounds spanning high-performance boating, competitive racing, marine sales, product development and customer service.

Conrad previously spent five years as a partner at Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats, where he was involved in sales, marketing, product development and manufacturing. He has also built race boats with performance manufacturers and spent 13 years competing as a boat racer.

“Wally and I have talked about the future of Outerlimits for a long time,” Conrad says. “We see tremendous potential in the brand, and our combined experience gives us the ability to build on its strong foundation. This is about respecting what Outerlimits has always stood for while making the investments necessary to take the company and customer experience to the next level.”

New ownership team

Supporting Castro and Conrad is Reinaldo Maykot, who brings nearly 30 years of experience across sales, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, finance, customer support and corporate management. His previous roles have included leadership positions with Whirlpool and Brunswick Corporation, with responsibilities involving Boston Whaler, Sea Ray and Bayliner.

The existing Outerlimits team will also remain in place. Dan Kleitz, who has been with the company for more than 16 years and has led its day-to-day operations for more than 12 years, will continue in his role.

“I’ve been with Outerlimits for more than 16 years, and this brand is in my DNA,” Kleitz says. “I’m not going anywhere, and I don’t plan to. After knowing Scot for many years, we felt the time was right to partner with CMC and take Outerlimits to the next level.”

Donna Fiore, sister of Outerlimits’ original founder, will also continue working with the new ownership team, providing what the company describes as institutional knowledge and continuity.

“Outerlimits has always been about more than building fast boats,” Fiore says. “It is a brand with a history, a personality and a tremendous amount of pride behind it.”

Castro and Conrad say the acquisition represents a long-term investment in Outerlimits, with the new facility intended to provide room for the business to develop while retaining its focus on individually built performance boats rather than mass production.

“Our vision is pretty simple,” Conrad says. “Wally and I want to build exceptional boats, take care of the people who own them and never compromise on quality.”

The acquisition was announced by CMC Boat Group on 8 September 2026.
