CMC Marine restructures ahead of US expansion

The US branch of CMC Marine, which produces electrically operated stabilisation systems, will play a central role in the three-year, €10 million growth plan that was announced by the company’s founder Alessandro Cappiello in November 2023.

The strategy drawn up by CMC Marine — which reports its turnover has more than doubled in the last three years — involves a reorganisation of both internal processes in the United States and relations with American dealers and distributors, with the aim of extending coverage to Central and South America and the Asia Pacific region.

“The United States is a huge market with an almost boundless and highly diverse user base,” explains recently appointed managing director Raffa Invrea. “Establishing a close-knit geographical presence through a network of distributors and dealers spread across the entire country is crucial for brand growth. The USA is a gateway and stepping stone to other very active markets such as Brazil and Central and South America, but also Canada and the Asia Pacific area.”

The American unit will be taking part in the main American boat shows to fine tune the brand’s offering for a customer base with different needs to the European market, as well as to build loyalty and establish relations with local dealers and distributors.

The company says after it received excellent feedback at the Seattle Boat Show, the largest industry event on the Pacific coast, and it is taking part in the Miami International Boat Show (14-18 February) and the Trawlerfest in Stuart, Florida (27 February – 2 March).

On display at the three US boat shows will be several examples of Waveless STAB, the CMC’s new generation of electric fin stabilisers, designed for boats upwards of 12 metres in length. The range will soon be expanded by the introduction of a new size, STAB50 with a 1.8sqm fin. On show in Miami, there will also be a Stabilis Electra unit, the stabilisation system for yachts at anchor over 18 metres in length.
