Cranchi Yachts to use Propspeed coatings as standard

Italian boatbuilder Cranchi Yachts has selected Propspeed to supply biocide-free foul-release coating systems as standard for use across part of its model range.

From January 2026, Propspeed coatings will be applied as standard to Cranchi Yachts models measuring 62ft (18.9m) or more, including the Settantotto 78. The boatbuilder says the endorsement comes after a period of testing.

On these yachts, Propspeed is applied to Volvo IPS propellers, Lightspeed is applied to underwater lighting, and Foulfree Multi-Surface is applied to Humphree stabilising fins and interceptors. For other Cranchi Yachts models ranging from 26 to 46ft, the same underwater protection is available upon request.

‘Propspeed’s foul-release coatings support long-term performance while also reflecting our commitment to reducing environmental impact below the waterline, giving owners and operators added peace of mind,’ says Cranchi Yachts in a statement.

Propspeed’s EMEA operations are overseen by Davide Burrini, EMEA sales director at Propspeed. The New Zealand-based company supplies foul-release coatings designed for underwater running gear, lighting and a range of metal and non-metal components.

“We’re grateful for the trust placed in our products from some of the most respected yacht builders across the world, like Cranchi Yachts,” says Burrini. “At Propspeed, we pride ourselves on developing foul-release systems that protect vessels below the waterline while also safeguarding our shared playground — the ocean — by improving efficiency and helping reduce carbon emissions. We’re confident that Cranchi owners and operators will value cleaner protection that keeps their yachts performing smoothly.”

Cranchi Yachts has been operating in Italy since 1870. The company is founded and led by the Cranchi family and has partnered with the Monzino family since 1970.

Propspeed’s current product range includes Propspeed for running gear and underwater metals, Foulfree Multi-Surface System for non-metal substrates, Lightspeed for underwater lighting and Stripspeed, a foul-release coating remover.
