Dinnteco America launches DDCE lightning protection for sub 50ft vessels
Lightning protection technology firm, Dinnteco America, is launching the DDCE Marine Mini – the latest model in its marine lightning protection product range.
Designed for vessels up to 50ft (15 metres) in length and 10ft (3 metres) in height, the DDCE Marine Mini serves a new customer base and opens up the technology to smaller vessels and even unmanned craft.
Using proprietary variable electric-field compensation technology, the DDCE Marine Mini is designed to prevent the formation of the upward leader (an upward discharge from tall structures caused by intensified electric fields) and, thus prevents direct lightning strikes on the vessel.
“The DDCE Marine Mini is the ideal stand-alone lightning protection solution for smaller watercraft up to 50 feet,” says Todd Tally, general manager of Atlantic Marine Electronics. “Its certified technology, compact design and resistance to harsh marine environments make it the most reliable option in its class to ensure the ultimate safety of a boat, its electronics and most importantly, its crew.”
Designed for marine environments, the DDCE Marine Mini’s construction combines stainless steel, polyoxometalates (POM) and saline for up to 100-metre protection. Optimised for weight-sensitive masthead installations, the system weighs 1.36kg (3lbs) and occupies a 3-inch by 6-inch footprint.
According to the manufacturer, the DDCE Marine Mini meets RoHS standards and has certifications from INTA, LCOE (IEC 62305‑1), University of Pau, CE Marking, ISO 9001, NATO (NCAGE: SYN37), Bureau Veritas (IEC 62561‑1), and RINA.
This article was amended on 3 June removing reference to Lloyd’s certification as the DDCE Marine Mini does not currently have this awarded.
