Dutch firm to design new Chinese high-speed ferry

Xiamen Passenger and Tourist Transport Group has ordered its new high-speed aluminium ferry from Dutch design and development company, CoCo Yachts.

The Coastal Cruiser 350 is a new completely new design, specifically designed for the Chinese transportation group, and will be built in accordance with the China Classification Society Rules.

This ferry is the first that CoCo Yachts has designed for the group, and the hull, including the propeller tunnel, have been designed and optimised by using the in-house HOC cluster, running Numeca FineMarine CFD software to achieve best performance possible. Resistance and seakeeping at 25 knots have also been optimised for maximum efficiency.

Interior design has prioritised passenger comfort, with low noise and vibration levels and a high capacity air conditioning system. On the main deck there will be 210 comfortable economy seats, and 135 business class seats and five VIP seats on the upper deck. Kiosks will be located on both the main and upper deck.

The 43 m vessel will be built at Plenty Ships – Yaguang Group in Zhuhai and will be delivered in the first quarter of 2021.
