EC Smith & Sons

It’s well known by now that EC Smith & Sons – first incorporated in March 1973 – closed its doors at the end of last year. It is understood administrators have been appointed.

Products distributed by the company included heating, electrical, lighting, plumbing and sanitation, sealants and adhesives.

The current directors are listed as Simon Smith and Ritchie Bywaters. Mr Smith was appointed in 1991 and Mr Bywaters in 2016.

Many opinions have been flying around the industry quoting pretty enormous figures, but none of these can be relied upon until the administrators have done what’s necessary and been through the books.

It’s always a great pity when such a fine name stumbles – for some time now, MTN has been unable to speak to anyone at the company, so we can only hope good things come out of the wreckage…
