Job vacancy: Editor MIN, start ASAP

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of the Marine Industry News team.

We’re looking for an editor to take on the day-to-day running of the fastest growing marine trade news site in Europe.

MIN’s readership, advertising and quality has accelerated at speed during the last 18 months and we’re now looking for someone who is ready to take it to the next level, keeping the current mix of entertaining stories but adding more feature driven content.

Working closely with a small team, you’ll be looking after MIN’s daily content, writing features and articles, running online seminars, and visiting trade shows.

You’ll need to be proficient in WordPress as it’ll be your responsibility to load content, whether that’s product-based news or in-depth articles.

You’ll be part of the wider team which includes a full-time commercial manager and support staff responsible for the daily HTML and social media (although you will be expected to pick-up these functions when necessary, for example, during leave periods). Although you are welcome to work remotely, you will be expected to visit the publisher’s office on the south coast for a meeting with the managing editor once a month.

If you have at least three-years’ experience in a similar function, writing and publishing to a WordPress news site, a good eye for news, and the desire to really make a difference in a small, friendly team, we want to hear from you.

The current role is for around 20-25 hours per week, but we are keen to make this work for the right person. The contract is initially for six-months with the possibility of extension.

While knowledge of the marine market is useful, experience, turn of phrase, energy, attention to detail and a great attitude are more important.

We’re really happy to chat though the role, and / or please send your CV, along with links to three recent examples of your work, to zella@maa.agency and mike@maa.agency, by noon 5th May 2021.
