Erwin Bamps returns to Gulf Craft as CEO

Erwin Bamps Gulf Craft CEO

Gulf Craft Group has appointed Erwin Bamps as chief executive officer to support its next phase of development across key international markets.

Bamps previously played a central role in the company’s global growth in the early 2000s as COO and later CEO, before spending six years as vice president of Prestige Yachts. He returns to the UAE-based shipyard with experience in leadership and market development across Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas.

The news comes after the departure of Yannis Haidis, who was appointed Gulf Craft CEO in February 2024 and left the firm in January 2025. Haidis was brought in to oversee the transition from Gulf Craft to the formation and establishment of Gulf Craft Group, a new umbrella group that integrates the company’s brands, shipyard and services.

Gulf Craft, which is currently scaling up production, expanding its model range and increasing its presence in both established and emerging markets, continues to focus on composite construction and customised builds.

“Erwin’s return comes at an important time for Gulf Craft, as we continue to focus on strengthening our presence across key global markets,” says Mohammed Hussein Alshaali, chairman of Gulf Craft.

“He knows Gulf Craft well, understands the values that have shaped the company, and brings with him broader international experience that will support our future plans. We look forward to working closely together to build on the foundations we have set in place.”

“Gulf Craft is entering a defining era,” says Bamps. “With an already solid global footprint and rising brand equity, we are poised to claim greater market share across the full spectrum – from long-range luxury explorers to fully customised superyachts. The opportunity now is to amplify our global presence, deepen relationships with our clients and push the boundaries of what Gulf Craft can deliver, without losing sight of the Emirati values and vision that make us unique.”
