First showing of a new America’s Cup boat?

An interesting shot of the INEOS Team UK monohull Test Boat being rolled out in Portsmouth.

This is the first showing of the latest attempt at what might be the next America’s Cup boat, circulated by America’s Cup media specialist Jack Griffen, who circulated these images by Jar Vahey.

They are believed to show the INEOS Team UK monohull foiling Test Boat being rolled out in Portsmouth recently.

Apparently it is a modified Quant 28 design. The Quant 28 was designed by Hugh Welbourn, developer of the “Dynamic Stability System” – a horizontal foil that can be extended to leeward to give a monohull more righting moment.

Griffen reports that they ran capsize and righting tests.

Meanwhile INEOS Team UK will join the multihull GC32 Racing Tour at the Lagos Cup in Portugal from 27 June – 1st July, with Ben Ainslie at the helm.
