Walter N. Meloon, former Correct Craft CEO and member of the Wakeboarding Hall of Fame, has passed away at the age of 87.

A grandson of Correct Craft’s founder, Meloon dedicated 52 years to the Florida-based family boat business, including 18 years as president and CEO. During his tenure, he played a key role in establishing Correct Craft as a prominent name in the marine industry.

Meloon oversaw several noteworthy advancements at the firm, including the development of the wakeboard tower, which had a lasting impact on the watersports industry. Meloon also played a significant role in the Ski Nautique Paragon project, which influenced the design and performance of luxury towboats in the market today. His contributions were recognised in 2020 with his induction into the Wakeboarding Hall of Fame.

In addition to his work in the marine industry, Meloon was an active member of his local community in Pine Castle, Florida. He served as the captain of the Pine Castle Volunteer Fire Department, further reflecting his commitment to service.

Bill Yeargin, Correct Craft’s current president and CEO, says: “Not long ago, I had the opportunity to spend an afternoon with Walt at his house and, as I have done many times, thanked him for the foundation he helped lay upon which our team has grown Correct Craft. We deeply appreciate the work Walt did leading our company for many years.”

Yeargin adds: “Wakeboarding came of age during Walt’s tenure as president and CEO of Correct Craft. We were happy to see his effort in developing the sport recognised in 2020 by Walt’s induction into the Wakeboarding Hall of Fame. We will forever be grateful for all he did.”
