Garmin has had a busy few weeks with its latest product launches, and now the US electronics giant has revealed details of its premium Fusion Apollo RA800 marine stereo.

Garmin says the new Fusion Apollo RA800 marine stereo offers high-resolution, lossless audio and Wi-Fi connectivity, plus a powerful internal amplifier that drives up to four speakers.

“We are excited to continue to push the limits of excellence in marine audio entertainment,” says Susan Lyman, Garmin vice president of consumer sales and marketing. “With the new Apollo RA800 on board, boaters and passengers can hear their music with unrivalled clarity. Plus, with an internal amplifier that produces 50 per cent more power than its predecessor, users can keep the beat going strong all day and night.”

There’s a built-in DAB tuner which supports the latest DAB and DAB+ broadcasts, and improved WiFi connectivity. Users can connect multiple Apollo stereos to share audio sources across different listening zones on the boat.

Available now, the Fusion Apollo RA800 has a suggested retail price of £859.99. With the same mounting specifications and connections as its predecessors, the new stereo is a drop-in replacement for existing RA770 and RA670 stereos — more details are available on the company’s website.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Garmin introduced the GPSMAP 1523xsv chartplotter to the market. The new ultrawide 15-inch touchscreen is said to provide a stunning high-resolution display, superior clarity and a sleek design to optimise space in the helm.

The GPSMAP 1523xsv chartplotter has an edge-to-edge glass format that fits a wide range of dash configurations, and users can enjoy the advantages of dual screens without needing two separate units, making it easier to display the data and applications they use most.

“We are excited to add an ultrawide display option to our popular GPSMAP x3 chartplotter series that offers boaters and anglers a more expansive, immersive field of view,” says Lyman. “Coupled with its easy-to-use functionality, built-in mapping and superior sonar capabilities, the GPSMAP 1523xsv delivers an incredible experience at the helm.”

Garmin calculates that the ultrawide display is 74 per cent wider than a standard 9-inch chartplotter. It comes with built-in sonar to help distinguish, for example, fish from structures. Optional Panoptix, LiveScope live sonar, and CHIRP traditional sonar are supported.

For aftermarket and OEM installation, the GPSMAP 1523xsv offers two different mounting options. A bail-mount option with inset knobs and a bracket to support the unique floating display installations, while a rear-mount option provides secure flush and flat-mount helm solutions.
