The 66th Genoa International Boat Show will feature more than 1,000 boats when it opens on 1 October 2026 with organisers reporting growth in both the size of yachts on display and the number of multihulls.

The Italian show, organised by Confindustria Nautica – Italian Marine Industry Association, will feature 215 new models from exhibitors representing 45 countries across five continents. The in-water display area has increased by 4 per cent compared with 2025.

Piero Formenti, president of Confindustria Nautica, says the figures reflect changes in the wider boating industry.

“The expansion of the in-water display area, the increase in the size of the boats on display and the evolution of the various segments reflect a sector that is changing and an event capable of changing alongside it,” he says.

The average size of the three largest boats in each segment has increased by 14.1 per cent compared with last year, while occupancy of the Yacht & Superyacht dock has also risen. Multihulls are another area of growth, with 28 per cent more units on display than in 2025.

Formenti says the Italian boating industry has a turnover of €8.6bn, generates more than €13bn in added value, and employs nearly 170,000 people. Around 90 per cent of production is destined for foreign markets, according to Confindustria Nautica.

Larger yachts and a new Blue Arena

The increased presence of larger yachts will be reflected in a new ‘Living Made in Italy’ area on Quay H, developed with support from the Italian Trade Agency.

The area will showcase models over 24 metres, including yachts in the 35 to 50-metre range, alongside displays, lounges, and hospitality facilities.

Another new feature is the Blue Arena, which will occupy space inside the new Palasport Pavilion. Confindustria Nautica and the Italian Trade Agency have invested in the free-to-access area, which is intended to introduce new audiences to boating and highlight opportunities within the sector.

Its programme covers boating, start-ups and innovation, training and maritime careers, sailing, and maritime military institutions. The Start Boating section will offer visitors an introduction to boating and maritime culture, including the chance to familiarise themselves with boats powered by engines up to 25hp.

The organisers are also targeting younger visitors through a discounted under 25 ticket.

International focus

The Italian Trade Agency is doubling its commitment to the show’s international visitor programme, with 180 international buyers targeted for 2026, up from 70 last year.

Buyers from 35 countries are expected, including superyacht buyers, importers, distributors, and dealers. More than 80 foreign journalists have also been contacted.

Formenti says the international dimension is particularly important for an industry that relies heavily on exports.

“The Genoa International Boat Show is a direct reflection of the market and the industry it represents,” he says. “The strength of a boat show organised by the national industry association is listening to businesses, interpreting their needs and translating them into a project that brings together representation and market presence, industrial vision and international reach.”

The TechTrade Days will return on 1 and 2 October, with more than 400 specialist marine equipment and component brands taking part in a B2B programme for shipyards, designers, technical departments, procurement managers, manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers.

The wider Forum26 programme will address issues including sustainability, technological innovation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, the maritime economy, nautical tourism, and professional training.

The 7th Design Innovation Award will also be presented during the show, with the winners announced on 2 October 2026.
