METSTRADE: Gori to launch hybrid sailing propeller in 2025

Gori Propeller has announced the development of a new hybrid folding propeller designed specifically for electric and hybrid sailing yachts, set to launch in 2025. The new design lets sailors switch between optimal sailing performance and power regeneration modes.

The patent-pending propeller features an integrated locking system that can hold blades open for power regeneration or fold them to improve efficiency. Based on the DAME Design Award-winning Gori 3-bade platform, the new model will be available in sizes from 18 to 30 inches for both shaft and sail drive configurations.

Lars Østergaard, Senior Vice President of Sales at GORI Propeller, explains: “Using the GORI 3-Blade Propeller for regeneration is not new; customers have been using our original propeller for several years now, but it’s not optimised for this purpose.

“Extensive testing has been conducted both here in Haderslev, Denmark, and with a manufacturer of electric propulsion. We are delighted with the results, and it’s time for us to tell the world that effective regeneration with a folding propeller is possible.”

This development comes as the marine industry continues to seek more sustainable propulsion solutions for those equipped with electric or hybrid power systems. Gori Propeller will debut the prototype during METSTRADE 2024 (stand no. 12.540).
