Groupe Beneteau acquires French catamaran shipyard

BMS team

Groupe Beneteau has acquired BMS, a shipyard based in Canet-en-Roussillon that specialises in the maintenance, customisation, and refit of large catamarans, particularly Lagoon vessels.

French boating giant Beneteau says the acquisition expands Lagoon’s global network of service centres and strengthens the group’s service offering in the Mediterranean. Each year, more than 50 Lagoon catamarans are serviced at BMS facilities.

BMS has 14 employees and recorded revenue of €3.3m in 2025. The company’s founders, Pascal Cantiran and Denis Ranjard, will continue to manage operations. The integration means Lagoon has added another location to its existing network of seven service centres, offering owners in the Mediterranean a hub for technical support and maintenance services.

“With the acquisition of BMS, we are taking a new step forward in the development of our service offering. This merger illustrates our desire to support our customers throughout the life of their boat,” says Bruno Thivoyon, chairman of the Groupe Beneteau executive board.

Clément Himily, managing director of the sailing business unit, says: “This acquisition reinforces our ambition to make Lagoon a global benchmark not only in terms of products and responsible innovation, but also in terms of services and customer support.”

Pascal Cantiran, co-founder of BMS, says: “Much more than an alliance, this is the meeting of two complementary visions: Groupe Beneteau’s capacity for innovation and development, and BMS’s local expertise with owners. Together, we will redefine the concept of customer service and take it even further.”

Founded in Vendée 140 years ago by Benjamin Bénéteau, Groupe Beneteau operates 16 production sites worldwide and employs more than 6,500 people. In 2024, the group generated revenue of €1bn. The boating division has nine brands, offering more than 135 pleasure craft models, including sailing and motor boats, monohulls and catamarans. Its boating solutions division provides rental, marina, digital, and financing services.

Lagoon, a Groupe Beneteau brand, is a leading name in cruising catamarans, with more than 7,000 units built. Its range spans models from 38ft to 82ft, supported by a global dealer and service network.
