GX Superyachts’ 42m GX42 hits the water ahead of Monaco debut
GX Superyachts has launched the first GX42, marking the latest milestone for the emerging superyacht brand ahead of the model’s world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show.
The 42-metre flagship hybrid yacht combines diesel-electric propulsion, integrated solar technology and a large lithium battery bank, highlighting its focus on quieter, lower-impact cruising. Back in July, the yacht’s hybrid propulsion system passed a workshop test.
Having completed outfitting in April and now in the final stages of sea trials, the GX42 will debut at this year’s show. The launch represents the point at which it has moved from an ambitious concept to a yacht ready to be experienced on the water, just two years after the GX Superyachts brand was first launched.
Up to 48 hours in zero-emissions mode
Developed by the team behind Greenline Yachts, the GX42 brings more than 15 years of experience in hybrid propulsion and energy management into the 40-metre-plus sector. According to GX Superyachts, the system allows the yacht to operate in zero-emissions mode for up to 48 hours at anchor, while onboard electricity consumption can be reduced by up to 45 per cent. The technology is designed to reduce generator use, fuel consumption and operational emissions.
“Today is an emotional milestone for everyone involved in GX Superyachts,” says yard owner Vladimir Zinchenko. “Only two years ago we introduced a bold new vision for the future of superyachting in Monaco. Seeing the first GX42 enter the water proves that this vision has become reality. We are now looking forward to presenting her to the world at the Monaco Yacht Show, where the journey first began.”
Designed around onboard comfort
The GX42 has been built with extended cruising and family use in mind, with emphasis on flexible living spaces and a connection between the interior and exterior. Responsible for both the exterior and interior design, notable for clean lines, natural materials and a restrained approach to luxury, is Italian designer Marco Casali.
Maurizio Magri, chief commerical officer (who started with GX Superyachts at the beginning of 2026), says the GX42 was intended to demonstrate how hybrid technology could be integrated without compromising on the luxury experience. “The GX42 demonstrates that responsible yachting and uncompromising luxury can go hand in hand.”
World debut at Monaco Yacht Show 2026
The brand is not only focusing on cleaner technologies but also positioning onboard wellbeing as a central part of the yacht’s design, with reduced noise, lower reliance on generators and improved energy efficiency, which not only adds to greener credentials but also to a more comfortable onboard experience.
