New IBEX structure introduces focused pavilions and specialist areas for 2026
IBEX 2026 will bring together a series of focused pavilions, speciality areas, and trade routes intended to help marine professionals navigate the technical trade show and find relevant products, companies, and expertise.
The International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX) takes place at the Tampa Convention Center and waterfront from 6–8 October 2026, with the organisers positioning the new structure as a way of making the show experience more focused and efficient.
“IBEX brings an extraordinary range of people, products and ideas together, and these focused areas help attendees turn that scale into a more intentional experience,” says Mary Velline, IBEX show director. “Whether someone is comparing propulsion technologies, looking for guidance on standards, meeting a potential international partner or seeing a system perform on the water, there is a destination built around that need.”
Six pavilions for 2026
Six pavilions will provide dedicated areas for specific sectors and technologies.
The Next-Gen Power & Performance Pavilion will focus on electric and hybrid propulsion, advanced batteries and energy storage, alternative fuels, sustainable power solutions and integrated systems.
The International Pavilion, developed in collaboration with Metstrade, will bring international marine companies together in one area, with targeted education, networking and opportunities to connect with US distributors and independent sales representatives. The pavilion builds on the US market entry programme IBEX and Metstrade announced earlier this year.
The Compliance, Standards & Education Pavilion will provide access to organisations and technical experts covering marine safety, standards, certification, training and best practice, complementing IBEX’s pre-conference and technical education programmes.
The Electronics Pavilion, sponsored by NMEA, will showcase marine electronics companies and technologies, with a focus on performance, compatibility and implementation across increasingly connected vessels.
The Composites Pavilion will cover materials, machinery, resins, infusion equipment, production processes, repair and maintenance, including technologies intended to support lighter and stronger construction and more sustainable manufacturing.
The Start-Up Pavilion, presented with Yachting Ventures, will showcase emerging marine companies, technologies, product launches and demonstrations. The Start-Up Pavilion returns to IBEX for 2026 for its third consecutive year, with the Start-Up Pitch Competition taking place on Tuesday 6 October from 1–2.30pm in room 107–109.
Speciality areas extend across the show
The 2026 structure also includes several speciality areas designed to bring education, networking and practical demonstrations alongside the exhibition.
The Main Stage has moved to a waterfront setting in the third-floor exhibit hall, alongside a new IBEX Lounge. Programming will include Business of Boatbuilding, Exhibitor Tech Talks, Marine Innovations, panels and presentations covering technology, market trends, leadership, workforce development and business strategy.
At the IBEX Docks, exhibitors will demonstrate systems and technologies on the water, with vessel testing, large equipment and propulsion displays, and direct marina access.
The Emerging Marine Leaders Lounge will provide a base for education, mentorship and networking, with events including a networking reception on 6 October and Coffee & Connections on 8 October.
Meanwhile, Innovation Way will bring together all entries to the 2026 IBEX Innovation Awards, giving visitors a concentrated view of new products and developments across boatbuilding, marine systems, materials, equipment and manufacturing. This follows the announcement of the 2026 Innovation Awards judges earlier this year. Winners will be announced during the Industry Breakfast on Tuesday morning (6 October 2026).
Trade Routes connect exhibitors across IBEX
The organisers are also using Trade Routes to help visitors find relevant exhibitors outside the dedicated pavilions.
Four routes are planned for 2026: Marina & Yard, Sustainable Technology, Electronics, sponsored by NMEA, and the Career Day Pathway. The routes group exhibitors by area of interest and can be used through the online IBEX Show Planner and mobile app.
The result is a two-layer approach to navigating the show: dedicated pavilions provide concentrated areas for specific technologies and sectors, while Trade Routes connect relevant exhibitors across the wider exhibition.
The wider programme will also include the IBEX Education Seminar Series, Career Day, Emerging Marine Leaders programming, the Industry Breakfast, awards programmes, and networking events.
