Improved lid for buckets doubles as a seat

USA’s Shurhold, which manufactures detailing supplies that help clean, polish and protect vessels, has launched a new and improved bucket lid. Seemingly it works with most 3.5 and 5-gallon buckets — allowing contents to remain safely secured and acting as a seat.

The bucket lid is made from durable black or white plastic with a moulded-in, non-slip pattern (more details are on the company’s website). Its edges are slightly rounded for comfort when being used as a seat.

“We refined the taper of the lid to ensure a smoother, more intuitive snap-fit design,” says Sam McGinley of Shurhold Industries. “An ergonomic release tab was added to simplify removal, providing a more user-friendly experience. Additionally, we increased the thickness of the plastic itself to enhance overall durability. These improvements apply to both the new bucket lid and the original padded version, the bucket seat.

“Our goal was to offer our customers a more utilitarian lid at a lower price point. This was far easier to do as we onshored the manufacturing of our buckets and bucket accessories, allowing for superb quality control and pricing stability.”

According to the manufacturer, the bucket seat lid will work with most pails, but using it with Shurhold’s World Best Rope Handle Bucket ratchets up its credentials. The company claims the latter is stronger and more durable than average buckets, and its braided nylon 2cm rope handle makes it completely scratchproof and provides an easy way to lift and carry.

And, more than this, McGinley says the buckets are “available in a variety of designs to suit different preferences and needs. These include our exclusive line featuring original artwork by Guy Harvey, infographic buckets that provide quick-reference information useful to boaters, and our custom bucket program, which offers fully personalised designs with low minimum order quantities.”
