International introduces Micron 350 antifouling to Asia-Pacific
Micron 350 is designed for use in warm tropical and subtropical waters AkzoNobel is introducing International Micron 350 antifouling to the Asia-Pacific market from September 2026, following its availability in Europe.
The antifouling is designed for warm tropical and subtropical waters, where conditions can accelerate the growth of barnacles, slime, algae and weed. It is formulated to provide protection while a boat is stationary.
AkzoNobel says that, unlike hard antifouling coatings, Micron 350 continuously smooths as it wears, which limits paint build-up over successive applications. The coating is also designed to reduce drag and maintain hull efficiency as it wears.
Micron 350 provides up to two years of antifouling performance. It can be applied by professional yards or DIY boat owners, with application possible up to 12 months before launch. Two or three coats are required by brush or roller, depending on the intended protection period. Professional applicators can also apply the product using airless spray.
The product is recommended as part of an International system that includes Interprotect and Primocon primers. It is available in black and blue and can be used on GRP/FRP, steel, wood, cast iron and lead hulls. It is intended for boats of different sizes and use in all water environments.

Micron 350 will be available in Asia-Pacific from September 2026 through International authorised retailers and distributors.
Merger with Axalta
Earlier this month, AkzoNobel shareholders approved all resolutions relating to the proposed all-share merger with its smaller rival Axalta Coating Systems. It’s estimated the cross-border deal, set to close in late 2026 or early 2027, will create a coatings company valued at around $25bn.
AkzoNobel has supplied paints and coatings since 1792. Its portfolio includes International, Sikkens and Interpon, with operations in more than 150 countries. The company develops paints and coatings for a range of applications.
