Job vacancy: Staff Writer, Marine Industry News

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of the Marine Industry News (MIN) team. We’re looking for a staff writer to join the fastest-growing marine trade news site in Europe.

MIN’s editorial, readership, advertising and quality has accelerated at speed during the last two years and we’re now looking for someone who is ready to help take it to the next level, helping to develop the current mix of entertaining stories, and write features for our online and print editions.

You’ll need to be proficient in WordPress as you’ll be loading content, whether that’s product-based news or in-depth articles.

If you have at least one year’s experience in a similar function, writing and publishing to a WordPress news site, a good eye for news, and the desire to really make a difference in a small, friendly team we want to hear from you.

You’ll be part of the wider team which includes a dynamic editorial department, full-time commercial manager and support staff responsible for the daily HTML and social media (although you will be expected to pick up these functions when required). Although you are welcome to work remotely, you will be expected to visit the publisher’s office on the south coast for a monthly meeting with the editorial team.

The current role is for around 10-15 hours per week, but we are keen to make this work for the right person. The contract is initially for three months with the possibility of extension.

While knowledge of the marine market is useful, experience, turn of phrase, energy, attention to detail and a great attitude are more important.

MIN is wholly owned by MAA. On occasion, you may be asked to draft additional content for MAA including features for client companies, blogs and ad-hoc press materials.
