Lookout names dealers for US west coast

LOOKOUT appoints West Coast dealers

Marine AI technology company Lookout has appointed Eco Yacht Group and The FindGroup as preferred dealers on the US west coast.

Eco Yacht Group specialises in sustainable marine technologies, working across fields such as ocean protection, renewable energy, water sustainability, plastic reduction and low-impact transport. The group has partnered with Lookout to distribute the company’s 3D augmented navigation system, which uses real-time obstacle detection to support collision avoidance.

The FindGroup is involved in marketing, listing and selling marine products, and offers a platform for introducing new technologies, such as Lookout, to its customer base.

“This alliance with the Eco Yacht Group and The FindGroup demonstrates our commitment to boating safety and protecting marine life,” says David Rose, CEO of Lookout. “Their team operates from Dana Point, the whale-watching capital of the world.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome Lookout to our collection of innovative, eco-friendly technologies designed to protect boat owners and preserve our oceans,” says Ana Rothwell, co-founder of Eco Yacht Group. “Lookout is a game-changer for boating safety – especially in low visibility and unfamiliar waters – and serves as a vital tool for avoiding hazards and protecting marine wildlife. Our clients will immediately see the value of integrating this system into their vessels.”

The Lookout system integrates three camera types: high-resolution daylight zoom, infrared full-colour night vision and a 360-degree panoramic view. It is designed to identify and track hazards such as buoys, debris, other vessels, whales and logs. The AI software is built on NVIDIA computing hardware and trained with large datasets, including examples of marine mammals. Development was led by a team of MIT alumni and AI researchers with experience in maritime search and rescue.

“Lookout represents responsible AI at its best,” adds Rose. “While heated discussions about ethical AI continue across industries, everyone can agree that preventing whale strikes and protecting marine life is an unequivocally positive use of this powerful technology. Our system demonstrates how AI solves real-world problems that benefit boaters and our ocean’s most magnificent creatures.”

Lookout is available from Eco Yacht Group and The FindGroup. Both offer live demonstrations of the system. Lookout shares whale location data with WhaleAlert.org. In addition, Eco Yacht Group will donate a portion of Lookout sales to the Gray Whale Foundation, which funds marine education trips for over 3,000 fifth-grade students annually.
