Lusben completes refit of 70m M/Y Alfa
Lusben has completed the refit of M/Y Alfa, a 70-metre custom superyacht originally delivered by Benetti in 2020. The vessel has undergone a comprehensive upgrade, covering both technical and aesthetic elements.
The project was managed by Lusben’s team in Livorno, with brokerage services provided by Ocean Independence and interiors designed by Mark Berryman Design.
The refit included full repainting of the hull and owner deck, along with wrapping applications and protective coatings. A five-year survey was conducted as part of the programme, involving inspection and servicing of critical systems including stabilisers, propulsion shafts, valves, engines, gearbox and generators. Electrical systems and control interfaces were tested and verified. New lighting and a backlit nameplate have also been added.
“The work on M/Y Alfa has been a source of great pride for us — not only because of the prestige of the project, but also because it perfectly embodies the ‘life cycle’ philosophy recently introduced by the Azimut-Benetti Group,” says Gianni Paladino, commercial director of Lusben. “Supporting a Benetti yacht throughout its entire journey — from launch to refit — is a true expression of the synergy within our group, and of our ability to ensure continuity, quality and long-term value.”

Mechanical updates included software enhancements for the forward crane, allowing independent arm control, as well as the redesign and extension of the bollards. The side ladder, stern passerelle and swim ladder were fully disassembled and refurbished. The stern beach platform has been fitted with retractable bollards and other hardware to improve mooring and tender handling.
Alessio Centelli, head of site at Lusben Livorno, says: “A project of this scale demands precise technical coordination and meticulous daily management. For this reason, I would like to thank Simone Rotili, project manager at Lusben, for the professionalism and dedication he demonstrated throughout every phase of the refit.”
Significant changes were also made to the interior, led by UK-based Mark Berryman Design. The main deck saw the introduction of custom furniture, including sofas, marble-clad tables with integrated fire pit, chaise longues and bespoke pouffes. The walls and doors were redesigned, while the master suite was upgraded with a new headboard, modified finishes and updated cabinetry.
Interior enhancements extended to hospitality features across the yacht. Four new bars were installed, including a teppanyaki bar on the skydeck. The galley was reconfigured with new equipment and a more efficient layout. Along the portside corridor, a new wine cellar with large-capacity fridges was added.
M/Y Alfa is available for charter through Ocean Independence.

“Today marks a very special occasion – not only because we are taking re-delivery of beautiful yacht with a new and elegant interior, but also because this is the moment to appreciate the efforts of many people over months, their dedication and precision, and the outstanding craftsmanship by Lusben,” says Anton Foord, sales and purchase manager at Ocean Independence.
“A special word of thanks goes to the highly qualified professionals who brought this project to life. We wish Alfa and her owner many memorable moments on the oceans.”
Lusben, the refit division of the Azimut-Benetti Group, operates facilities in Viareggio, Livorno and Varazze. The company delivers refit and maintenance projects for both motor and sailing yachts.
