Makefast wins Global Business of the Year award

Makefast Ltd, who manufactures stainless steel hardware and systems to the marine and safety industries, received the Global Business of the Year award at the Wales Business Awards in Cardiff on 9 June.

“It is fantastic recognition of the teamwork and effort from everyone at Makefast that goes into producing world-class products in demand right around the globe,” says Chris Brown, CFO. “To achieve all this during times of such uncertainty is all the more rewarding.”

Makefast says it has seen strong exports across its product portfolio, with growth in the marine shading systems as well as the core stainless steel buckle and hardware business.

The judges said: “They have achieved significant year-on-year export growth over a sustained period of five years, and have pro-actively and positively dealt with and overcome both Brexit and covid related challenges. They have exciting expansion plans for the future in Wales and the USA.”

The company says it continues to strengthen its operations, increasing capacity, improving processes, adding advanced equipment, and employing talented individuals to maintain its position as market leaders.

Brown continues: “With the global economy predicted to slow over the next couple of years, it will become increasingly challenging to keep the momentum, however we are seeing positive growth in leisure marine globally and we are confident we can continue to expand thanks to our innovative designs and high-quality products.”
