Marine shrinkwrap bioWrap hits 93 per cent biodegradation milestone
Ongoing ASTM D5511 landfill biodegradation testing of bioWrap – an eco friendly sustainable shrinkwrap solution designed to reduce plastic waste has reached 93 per cent biodegradation after 1,147 days (just over three years), according to manufacturer bioaqualife.
The latest test results, released in June 2026, underscore the material’s viability as an eco-friendly alternative for packaging and production wrapping. Unlike traditional plastic films, bioaqualife states that bioWrap is specifically formulated to decompose naturally in landfill conditions.
Made by bioaqualife, the shrinkwrap is designed to provide an eco-friendly way of packaging and production wrapping. The company has revealed its latest biodegradability testing and certification for the shrinkwrap solution.
Available in 7, 7.5, 9 and 11mm thickness, the innovative material is designed to offer strength and durability without additional bulk.
bioWrap is versatile in width, offering options from 14 to 40ft, making it suitable for various applications across multiple industries, including boat winterisation, construction and agriculture.
