Mastervolt is strengthening its marine power portfolio with the launch of new IP67-rated Mac Plus DC-DC chargers, designed to deliver reliable, bi-directional charging performance in demanding onboard and mobile environments where exposure to water and weather is unavoidable.

It’s added waterproof 48V DC-DC chargers to its Mac Plus range to provide a quick, safe, and consistent charge for both service and starter batteries. They’re designed for installation in unenclosed environments, ensuring reliable performance even when exposed to the elements.

“Mastervolt is known for delivering premium solutions that enable self-sufficient power, and we are thrilled to introduce IP67-rated DC-DC chargers to the Mac Plus range,” says Ton De Winter, president, Power Solutions at Navico Group.

“We recognise the challenges associated with charging service batteries in vehicles or vessels, such as voltage drops and insufficient charging. That’s why, two years ago, we introduced our Mac Plus models with bi-directional technology to address these issues head-on. Now, with the launch of our waterproof IP67-rated models, we’re delivering even more secure, reliable power.

“Already a popular choice among consumers for their bi-directional capabilities, these new models further expand the flexibility of Mastervolt power systems – empowering users with greater confidence and performance wherever they go.”

Mastervolt says the product is ideal for fishing boats, trailers, and similar applications. The IP67-rated Mac Plus incorporates a new touch-safe cover to protect connections and improve durability and its robust aluminium housing further boosts resilience and reliability.

Like other 48V models in the Mac Plus range, the waterproof version features bi-directional technology, ensuring both service and starter batteries receive the necessary power by using either side as an input or output. The company says that there is no risk of draining the starter battery when charging the house bank, as it automatically monitors whether the engine is running or providing charge. Additionally, the Mac Plus compensates for battery temperature to deliver optimal charging performance. Parallel operation of multiple units can provide charging capacities of over 100 Amps.

Integration with CZone, NMEA 2000 and MasterBus systems

The Mac Plus uses the proven Mastervolt 3-step+ charge algorithm, delivering a quick and easy charge, even to completely flat batteries.

Equipped with CZone, NMEA 2000, and MasterBus communication, Mac Plus integrates easily into wider power systems, improves monitoring and control capabilities, and enables users to oversee and manage power functions from any connected display screen. On-board DIP switches and MasterAdjust, as well as the CZone configuration tool, ensure simple and intuitive set up.

The new model offers total power flexibility to users. With a wide DC input range, it allows all DC sources and can charge two batteries from a single alternator or charger. It supports a full range of chemistries and battery types, including flooded, Gel, AGM and lithium-ion batteries, including LiFePo4, and functions seamlessly with modern alternators, ensuring proper charging by providing constant power, even when the alternator is inactive. Additionally, the model features advanced modern microprocessors ensuring minimal power loss when switching from 48/36V to 12/24V and vice versa.
