MDL opens Cat House at Woolverstone Marina for bookings
MDL Holidays has completed an extensive refurbishment of The Cat House, a Grade II-listed property located at Woolverstone Marina and Lodge Park in Suffolk. The historic riverside retreat, now available for booking, offers a blend of luxury and heritage on the banks of the River Orwell.
Featuring iconic battlements on its north gable, the Gothic-style Cat House is a spacious seven-berth, four-bedroom property, with three luxury double beds and one single bed.
Adam Peak at MDL says the refurbishment has taken around 12 months.
Steeped in local history, Cat House is said to have been named in honour of a former owner who assisted smugglers on the River Orwell. After his favourite cat died, he had it stuffed and would place it in the window to signal the coast was clear of customs boat patrols.
Shane Cheshire, marina manager at Woolverstone Marina and Lodge Park, remarked on the reopening: “The Cat House has always been a special part of Woolverstone Marina, and we’re thrilled to reopen it as a luxurious retreat for our guests. The refurbishment has transformed the property into a sophisticated yet serene getaway that perfectly complements the natural beauty of the River Orwell. We’re excited to welcome our first guests and provide them with an unforgettable experience.”
To book the historic Cat House, guests can head online to MDL Holidays. With the first reservations commencing from this week, guests can enjoy flexible booking options with peak and off-peak pricing, including three-night (weekend), four-night (midweek) and seven-night stays.
MDL Holidays also offers 29 luxury lodges at its Woolverstone Marina and Lodge Park. These lodges, set within the 22-acre riverside retreat, provide first-class accommodation, with several lodges specifically designed to cater to guests with pets.

Guests at Woolverstone Marina and Lodge Park can now also enjoy the newly refurbished MoniMar bar and restaurant.
The stylish venue provides the perfect setting to unwind after a day of exploring the Suffolk countryside or to simply relax and take in the beautiful views of the River Orwell.
The restaurant’s menu features fresh, local ingredients and the venue is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
