Dutch watersports wholesaler Mercator Marine Group (MMG) has appointed Arjan Pols as its new CEO.

MMG brings together four firms: Allpa BV in the Netherlands, Combi Noord, Technautic and Allpa Technik fürs Boot in Germany, acquired in 2023.

Pols’ appointment comes after Allpa’s entire company headquarters and warehouse were destroyed by fire in September 2024. No one was injured, but the site was a total loss along with 95 per cent of the firm’s inventory. Allpa has since secured a new office in Nijmegen and continues to rebuild.

Pols joins from solar energy equipment supplier PVO International, and has experience in wholesale operations, organisational development, logistics and commercial strategy.

“Mercator Marine Group, with brands such as Allpa, Technautic, and Combi Noord, is a key player in the distribution of technical products for the watersports sector,” says Pols. “The group’s strength lies in its broad product range and strong market position developed over the years. From my experience, I know how important it is to stay close to customers and continuously improve service levels. At MMG, I aim to further focus on service, quality, and an optimised supply chain, enabling us to support our customers even better and take the next step in professionalism and customer orientation.”

Cees Kopper, who has been serving as interim CEO, was involved in operations following the 2024 fire. He will remain actively involved with Allpa and Technautic.

Kopper says: “With Arjan’s arrival, MMG is ready for the next step. His experience, vision for further developing the group’s organisations, and strong commercial drive will strengthen and expand our market positions. I wish Arjan every success and will fully support him in this.”
