Mercury Marine expands Florida factory
The extension has added 25,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity
Mercury Marine has expanded its Plant 7 manufacturing facility in St. Cloud, Florida.
Mercury Marine, a division of Brunswick Corporation, marked the project’s conclusion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally open the additional production space. The extension has added 25,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity and enabled the installation of four additional Surface Mount Technology (SMT) lines. The company states that ‘nearly 30 jobs’ will be created in central Florida over the next several years to support the increased output.
According to the company, the investment will allow it to increase production of control modules and other electronic systems, helping it to reduce reliance on external suppliers for selected components by increasing in-house manufacturing capability.
“This expansion reflects Mercury Marine’s continued leadership in innovation and our commitment to advancing marine technology,” says Jim Purcell, Plant 7 general manager. “Our long-term investment in vertically integrated capabilities strengthens quality, accelerates innovation, and ensures we deliver the next generation of integrated propulsion systems our customers expect.”
Plant 7 has been producing printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies for more than a decade, supporting a range of Mercury products.
“Our team is incredibly proud of what this expansion means for Mercury Marine, our customers, and the St. Cloud community,” adds Ernie Anderson, vice president of global operations. “The added capacity and advanced technology positions us to support some of the most sophisticated electronics in marine propulsion today.”
