Mercury Marine secures exclusive distribution partnership in Thailand
Motor Field Marine has been appointed as the sole authorised distributor for Mercury Marine in Thailand.
The exclusivity agreement spans Mercury Marine’s entire product portfolio and is expected to drive growth across Thailand’s recreational boating, commercial marine, government fleet and marine tourism sectors.
Suthiwat Chaisirivichien, chair of Motor Field Marine, says: “Being entrusted by Mercury Marine as its sole authorised distributor in Thailand marks an important step for Motor Field Marine. This partnership allows us to further strengthen our expertise in marine solutions by offering world-class products, a comprehensive service network and a team of skilled technicians to serve business operators, government agencies and recreational boat users. We are committed to raising after-sales service standards and contributing to the long-term development of Thailand’s marine industry.”
Mercury Marine, a division of Brunswick Corporation, holds a dominant position in the global propulsion sector, including a market share of more than 50 per cent in the United States. The brand is particularly known for its high-horsepower, lightweight outboard platforms, including its V10 and V12 engines delivering over 600hp, alongside its joystick piloting boat control systems.
Earlier this year, Mercury expanded its production in Florida, adding 25,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity and enabling the installation of four additional Surface Mount Technology (SMT) lines.
Through the strategic partnership, Motor Field Marine plans to leverage Mercury’s technology to expand its footprint beyond leisure boating into the commercial speedboat, passenger ferry and government vessel sectors. The move aligns with the expansion of Thailand’s ‘blue economy’, where annual demand for marine engines is currently estimated at approximately 2,000 units.
To service the contract, Motor Field Marine operates a network of 13 authorised dealers and service centres across key maritime hubs, including Phuket, Pattaya, Samui and Bangkok-adjacent provinces such as Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan. The company plans to further expand its nationwide network to broaden service accessibility.
In addition, Motor Field Marine will work closely with Mercury Marine to provide continuous technical training for Thai technicians, ensuring that local service teams are fully equipped to support advanced marine engine technologies efficiently and professionally.
Enrique Bolanos, general manager – Australia, New Zealand & Asia of Mercury Marine, comments: “Thailand is one of Mercury Marine’s key strategic markets in Asia. We have had a presence in Thailand for more than 50 years, and the appointment of Motor Field Marine marks the beginning of a new chapter for Mercury Marine in the country. We strongly believe in Motor Field Marine’s more than 20 years of experience, market understanding, service network and customer-centric approach, which will support Mercury Marine’s long-term growth in Thailand.”
As part of the Mercury Marine Thailand Official Launch, the company also introduced the V8 300 HP FourStroke OutboardMercury and the 5.7L V10 400 HP AMS Outboard. The 5.7L V10 400 HP AMS Outboard features a 5.7-litre engine, high torque, quiet and smooth operation, a Quad-Cam system and intelligent digital controls. It is also compatible with widely available 87-octane gasoline, helping improve operating efficiency and reduce costs for marine operators.
