This A-Z roundup covers just some of the standout product launches and innovations on display at METSTRADE – the world’s largest trade show for marine equipment – which kicks off at RAI Amsterdam in the Netherlands next week, running from 19-21 November.

Around 18,000 industry professionals will explore launches and showcases from over 1,500 exhibiting companies throughout the three-day event, while the future of the leisure marine industry will be in focus throughout the 50+ knowledge sessions led by industry leaders.

This evolving list will continue to grow in the run-up to, and during, METSTRADE 2024.

Anchoright’s taking its chain marking systems to the market

Anchoright (stand 03.216) is showing off award-winning chain marking systems which provide a new level of safety, precision and convenience for boaters in anchoring operations. The system includes what it terms a ‘revolutionary’ guide plate to enhance the safety, ease and accuracy of anchoring for boats of all sizes and the company’s looking to connect with superyacht builders, naval architects and procurement teams.

Balex Marine’s loading system for yacht tender garages

Balex Marine will launch its automatic boat loading system designed for yacht tender garages. Designed for convenience and safety, the system allows yacht owners and crew to effortlessly load and unload tenders with one-touch operation. This system eliminates the traditional manual handling and lifting process. The system can be tailored to fit most yacht tender garages. (New Zealand’s stand 02.125.)

Barton Marine to launch over 30 new products

Barton Marine, a UK-based innovator in marine deck equipment, is set to debut over 30 new products at METSTRADE 2024. The official launch will be hosted at Barton’s Press and Product Launch Party, held at stand 01.474 on 19 November. The showcase includes Barton’s newly designed Genoa Cars, featuring updated colour finishes and technical enhancements, along with the Continuous Line Furler for dinghies and smaller yachts. Additional product highlights include next-generation Tiller Extensions, an expanded Boomstrut range, and a new Stanchion Ratchet Block.

A digital preview of Barton Marine’s 2025 catalogue will be available at the show, preceding its official print release. Dealers are also invited to explore a new lightweight display boat, designed as a versatile sales tool for in-store and event presentations.

British Marine showcases over 40 UK firms

British Marine will showcase over 40 member companies at METSTRADE 2024 in Amsterdam, with exhibitors featured in the British Pavilion (Hall 3) and the Superyacht Pavilion (Halls 10-11). Representing the UK’s marine sector, these companies will present advanced technologies and equipment, reinforcing the UK’s role as a leader in marine innovation.

Located at stand 03.221, the British Marine Pavilion will offer networking spaces and refreshments, facilitating connections among exhibitors and attendees. Additionally, British Marine will host a networking event on Wednesday 20 November, at 17:00, inviting professionals to share insights and foster future collaborations.

Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement

For the 10th anniversary of the Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement, 31 global companies from the leisure marine boatbuilding sector have been shortlisted across 11 categories.

Selected by an international panel from 97 entries, these companies, along with nominees for Lifetime Achievement, Rising Star and Designer of the Year, will be recognised at a special awards dinner on 20 November at Amsterdam’s National Maritime Museum.

Terry Hutchinson, skipper and president of operations for New York Yacht Club American Magic, will deliver the keynote at the METSTRADE 2024 ICOMIA Breakfast Briefing on 19 November, opening the show.

A veteran sailor and two-time US Sailing Rolex Yachtsman of the Year, Hutchinson will discuss the high-performance, team-driven demands of America’s Cup campaigns and their relevance to the marine equipment industry. Following the keynote, Hutchinson will engage with members of the METSTRADE Young Professionals Club.

Marine Resources is encouraging marine industry businesses to engage with young professionals at METSTRADE 2024 through the Young Professionals Club (YPC) and Career Zone, aiming to attract new talent amid the sector’s challenges in sustainability and technological advancement.

The initiative allows companies to connect with emerging professionals, offering career coaching, mentorship and networking sessions to foster relationships and share industry insights. Participating businesses can also demonstrate thought leadership through panels and discussions on sustainability and innovation, positioning themselves as employers of choice in a rapidly evolving field.

DAME Design Awards 2024

METSTRADE has announced 58 product nominations from 28 countries for the 33rd DAME Design Awards, with winners to be unveiled on 19 November 2024.

Following rigorous evaluation by a nine-member jury – including a sustainability consultant and a design student – the awards will cover eight categories, with an overall winner and a discretionary Environmental Design Award. The nominees, reflecting trends in electrification and sustainable design, will be showcased at METSTRADE in Hall 13. Event highlights include a keynote by America’s Cup team leader Terry Hutchinson, with award entry fees supporting SailWise, a Dutch organisation promoting inclusive water sports.

EPTechnologies (EPT): world premiere of new Falcon electric outboard motor

EPT says Falcon breaks away from conventional models, which typically retrofit electric components onto platforms originally intended for combustion engines.

This novel design enables a compact, lightweight build that minimises drag, improves efficiency and maximises onboard space for additional batteries. It extends range, boosts performance and significantly lowers environmental impact.

Glendinning Products: Electric control range

USA-based Glendinning Products (stand 05-310) is introducing a range of controls designed for electric propulsion applications.

The lineup includes its traditional Prograde design as well as a more contemporary Genesys style. All controls are IP68 waterproof and utilise dual channel (Hall Effect) sensors. They’re available in both analog and J1939 CAN versions as standard, with alternative custom models available as required.

Integrel step into powerboat market

Integrel Solutions will debut its expanded E-Power Series for powerboats, featuring the new Integrel E-Power 15 SE and 30 DE models, at METSTRADE 2024. These models are designed to replace traditional onboard generators by harnessing power directly from the engine’s Power Take Off (PTO), converting previously unused energy into efficient 48V power stored in a lithium battery bank. The 15 SE model delivers 15kW of power for single-engine boats up to 1,000hp, while the 30 DE provides 30kW for dual-engine setups. This system powers all onboard electronics, from air conditioning to refrigeration, without the noise, emissions or maintenance associated with fuel-based generators.

These E-Power units integrate easily with existing systems, using adaptor plates to connect directly to the engine’s PTO. They can also fully integrate with Navico Group’s Fathom e-power systems, extending power availability and enhancing energy efficiency. According to CEO Trevor Howard, Integrel’s expansion into the powerboat market reflects its commitment to delivering eco-friendly, fuel-efficient power solutions.

Lumitec introduces Poco 4

Lumitec has launched Poco 4, the latest upgrade to its digital lighting control system, aimed at enhancing user control and customisation of PLI-enabled Lumitec lights. The Poco 4 system, designed for ease of installation, enables complete lighting management through a compatible Multi-Function Display (MFD) or connected smart device. Key features of Poco 4 include Intelligent Sound-to-Light technology, NMEA 2000 compatibility and CAN bus integration, allowing vessel manufacturers to incorporate lighting controls into their own interfaces.

A standout feature of Poco 4, the Intelligent Sound-to-Light technology, offers unique sound-reactive lighting configurations. Users can customise sound-to-light preferences for each light channel, making lights respond differently to music or remain static as preferred. This system operates over a basic 2-wire DC setup, making it compatible with existing Lumitec PLI-equipped vessels.

Navico Group shows latest marine tech

Navico Group invites visitors to explore its latest marine technology advancements at METSTRADE 2024, located in Hall 2, stands 221 and 321. Featured innovations include the Attwood Latitude Evolve electric seat pedestal and the Lenco Pro Control auto-leveling system. Both the Lenco Pro Control and the Simrad NSX ULTRAWIDE have been shortlisted for the DAME Awards.

Navico Group will also host a cocktail reception on Tuesday 19 November, at 16:30, providing an opportunity for attendees to network with product experts. During the reception, guests can see live demonstrations of Navico’s newest offerings and engage with specialists on the details and applications of these marine technologies.

New Zealand innovation on display

New Zealand’s marine industry will showcase a range of pioneering products at METSTRADE 2024 in Amsterdam. Thirteen New Zealand companies will exhibit new technologies across categories including paint, coatings, electric propulsion and amphibious systems, with over 25 companies in total participating in the event.

Highlights include See-LEVEL’s VR-based seasickness solution, offering a drug-free method to alleviate motion sickness through a virtual reality headset. Tectrax will introduce the world’s first purely-electric amphibious system, designed to provide powerful, quiet and hydraulic-free operation. ZeroJet will present its high-performance 18kW 48V electric outboard motor, a lightweight option for small boats looking to transition to electric propulsion. TruDesign will launch its compact ball valves for tight marine spaces, while Balex Marine will debut an automated boat loading system for yacht tender garages. Resene Group will showcase Durepox, a trusted primer for composite marine vessels, used on high-performance yachts.

New Zealand’s innovations will be on display at METSTRADE from 19-21 November 2024 at stand 02.125.

NMMA leads the USA Pavilion

The USA and Canada Pavilions at METSTRADE 2024 will showcase North American marine industry innovation, connecting over 70 companies to global markets. Organised by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) for the 36th consecutive year, the USA Pavilion remains one of the largest at the show, with over 60 US exhibitors, while NMMA Canada will host 10 Canadian companies, including newcomer Acel Power Inc. Networking and educational sessions, hosted by NMMA, IBEX and Soundings Trade Only, will take place at the USA Connect Lounge throughout the event.

Highlights include the “Party in the USA” networking event in Hall 5 on November 20, featuring American cuisine and music, and sponsored by Barr Marine.

Ocean Safety to showcase safety innovations

Ocean Safety will showcase its latest marine safety innovations at METSTRADE 2024. Highlights include the launch of the Jon Buoy Recovery Module MK6 Valise, a versatile man-overboard (MOB) solution designed for vessels with limited over-water fitting options. This new model, suitable for cruising yachts and larger vessels alike, features advancements like intuitive boarding assistance and a tailored buoyancy design for efficient MOB recovery.

“We are thrilled to introduce the new bulkhead valise variant to the market at METSTRADE 2024,” says Alistair Hackett, managing director at Ocean Safety. “This product is the culmination of our ongoing commitment to safety innovation, providing a highly effective MOB recovery solution that meets the needs of a wide range of vessels.”

Visitors can explore Ocean Safety’s full range of products, including offerings from partners such as Aquaspec, Ocean Signal, Hammar and Ikaros, at Hall 5 – stand 05.141 in the French Pavilion.

Ocean Signal to launch rescueME MOB2

Ocean Signal rescueME MOB2

Ocean Signal is debuting the rescueME MOB2, a compact, Class-M approved man-overboard (MOB) device featuring advanced AIS and DSC technology, at METSTRADE 2024, where visitors can explore its features and functionality.

The MOB2 is described as the smallest, most compact Class-M-approved MOB device on the market. It offers rapid alerts with a 15-second response time, and integrates real-time AIS location tracking and two-way DSC signalling, enhancing safety for seafarers while remaining 50 per cent smaller and 20 per cent lighter than similar devices, according to Ocean Signal. With dual IR and white strobe lights for visibility in low light, and NFC technology for simplified programming, the MOB2 provides reliable, easy-to-use emergency communication.

Resene Group to exhibit Durepox

Resene Group will bring Durepox to the show. It’s used extensively for foiling, sailing and power boats, and the company says Durepox is the product of choice as a primer for all AC40 yachts as well as the Sail GP foiling cats. (New Zealand’s stand 02.125.)

Technology to beat sea sickness with See-Level

New Zealand’s See-Level will introduce its solution to sea sickness at this year’s show. The company’s virtual reality technology is a medication-free solution to a common seafarers’ affliction, using a VR headset to ease motion sickness and improve enjoyment during long sea voyages. (New Zealand’s stand 02.125.)

Tectrax: Purely-electric amphibious technology

Amphibious systems creator Tectrax will present its purely electric amphibious system. Where traditional amphibious technologies are limited by noisy hydraulic systems which lack power and compromise performance on the water, Tectrax’s new electric system has no hydraulics, delivering more power and improved manoeuvrability, while freeing up vessel space. (New Zealand’s stand 02.125.)

Shakespeare Marine showcases marine antenna innovations

Shakespeare Marine is set to showcase its latest innovations at an upcoming event, including the Commlight, a fibreglass antenna with integrated multi-coloured LED lighting for enhanced visibility and customisation. Also featured will be the award-winning Galaxy INFL8, an inflatable emergency VHF antenna, along with the 5912-Dorasal, a fin-shaped antenna nominated for a DAME Award in 2022, designed specifically for boats up to 15 metres to prevent snagging.

The display will include a range of fibreglass antennas (from 1.2 to 7 metres) and stainless steel whip antennas (from 0.3 to 1 metre), as well as Shakespeare Marine’s TV antennas, speakers and unique mounting options like the 6187 mount.

Start-Up Pavilion

Yachting Ventures has unveiled the lineup for the 2024 Start-Up Pavilion at METSTRADE, featuring 15 leisure marine companies presenting innovative software and hardware solutions.

Now in its second year, the pavilion showcases advancements in areas like propulsion systems, apps and sustainability, and includes a pitching competition where five startups will present to investors and industry leaders.

Exhibitors at the Start-Up Pavilion include companies developing technologies such as electric propulsion, vessel-to-grid systems, smart boat management platforms, and sustainable marine solutions.

Superyacht Forum

The Superyacht Forum credit METSTRADE

METSTRADE has unveiled the redesigned Superyacht Forum, to be held from 18-19 November 2024. Now aligned with METSTRADE’s SuperYacht Pavilion, the forum will bring together over 600 industry leaders to discuss innovation, professionalism and sustainability under the theme “Think Ahead”.

Topics will include AI in superyacht design, sustainable propulsion systems and a 2050 sustainability roadmap. Highlights also include MARIN’s Seven Oceans Simulator and the launch of the Yacht Owner Representative Platform (YORP). Tickets are available via the METSTRADE website.

TeamO reveals ‘game-changing’ lifejacket design

TeamO Marine Safety Products Limited is introducing the Hi-Lift lifejacket, a new personal flotation device designed to enhance user safety through an innovative buoyancy distribution approach. This lifejacket provides a significantly higher mouth freeboard, with 60 per cent greater buoyancy than other leading brands, keeping the user’s airway clear in rough waters. The Hi-Lift’s design incorporates TeamO’s BackTow Technology, initially launched in 2017, which repositions the wearer in a seated, face-up position when tethered to a vessel, reducing drowning risk in man-overboard (MOB) situations.

The Hi-Lift is built for comfort and functionality, with lightweight, ergonomic materials to support extended wear. TeamO has also focused on sustainability, moving production to solar-powered, off-grid facilities. The Hi-Lift lifejacket will be available on TeamO’s website and selected retailers starting spring 2025. TeamO, a leader in marine safety innovation, continues to expand globally through a partnership with Bainbridge International Ltd, enhancing production capabilities to meet international demand.

Thermavance cooling and heating seating technology

Promethient, a Michigan-based climate control company, is introducing its Thermavance seat cooling and heating technology to the European marine industry at METSTRADE. This innovative system uses graphene-based technology to provide efficient, conductive cooling and heating within a single unit, adaptable to nearly any seat design.

The Thermavance system uses a thermoelectric device, or Peltier device, combined with graphene, a highly conductive, lightweight and flexible material suited for human-scaled surfaces. Following successful use in North America across marine, powersports and luxury seating applications, Promethient says its European launch targets high-end manufacturers seeking advanced thermal comfort solutions.

TruDesign launches new ball valves

TruDesign is launching a new three-quarter inch and half-inch compact Ball Valve/Seacock range.

Designed to fit in tight spaces, these small TruDesign Ball Valves come with all the benefits of corrosion-free, six-to-one weight saving and smooth handle rotation. The valves are ideal for continuous use air-conditioning and Genset cooling systems, and fit TruDesign ISO 9093-2021 compliant Thru Hulls/Skin Fittings. (New Zealand’s stand 02.125.)

Typhoon to showcase brand-new collection of watersports apparel at METSTRADE 2024 LR

Drysuit and marine equipment manufacturer Typhoon International will present its range of watersports apparel at METSTRADE 2024, including high-performance sailing clothing designed for both sailors and powerboaters, offering multiple options for protection against the elements, as well as a new collection of wetsuits engineered for movement and protection, made from eco-friendly and sustainable materials.

The firm will also unveil its updated brand identity, which will be reflected in its latest collection of products. In addition, Typhoon will present sunglasses, footwear, luggage and buoyancy aids.

Wave International launches slimline filter

British manufacturer Wave International has launched a new Wavebrite Slimline filter to support its range of Wavebrite Grey Water systems, which comply with EU Waste Water Standards. The Wavebrite Slimline will be on show for the first time at METSTRADE (03.403).

Women in the Marine Industry event

METSTRADE, along with Marine Industry News, British Marine and Soundings Trade Only, has announced the panellists for the 2024 Women in the Marine Industry International event, to be held on 20 November.

This year’s panel includes industry leaders Anne Dunbar (IBEX), Gabbi Richardson (Yachting Ventures), Rhoda Schnitzer (Lippert EMEA), Helena Lennerstedt (Humphree) and Jemma Lampkin (Akzonobel), with Michele Goldsmith of Soundings Trade Only moderating.

The event, free for METSTRADE attendees, will feature discussions on leadership, innovation and diversity in the marine sector.

YETI software launch

The official launch of YETI software, a tool developed over five years in collaboration with industry stakeholders, will take place at METSTRADE on Wednesday 20 November 2024, from 14:00 to 14:30 at the METSTRADE Theatre (13.205).

This innovative software, presented by executive director Robert van Tol and technical director Hanna Dąbrowska, establishes a new standard for assessing the environmental performance of superyachts. YETI is designed to guide sustainability improvements in both new builds and refit projects. Attendees can expect a live demo of the tool, an overview of the YETI Lite and YETI Pro versions tailored for different stakeholders, and guidance on interpreting results within regulatory frameworks.
