New amphibious boat to be manufactured in UK

Anura, the New Zealand-based engineering company specialising in amphibious systems for marine vessels, has partnered with Warrior Boats to create a new amphibious boat that will be manufactured in the UK.

Anura’s S15 amphibious system will be integrated into upcoming builds at Warrior, as part of the Anura’s ongoing UK and European expansion. The design phase is now underway and the first Warrior Boats with Anura’s system are scheduled for Q3 2025.

Anura, which was established in 2012, says amphibious technology is on the rise in the UK, but has so far been largely limited to RIBs. By adding an amphibious model to its lineup, Warrior aims to meet growing market demand and establish itself as a leader in the market.

According to both parties, the partnership was driven by a specific customer need and solidified during a meeting at Metstrade 2024 in Amsterdam, when the Warrior team had the opportunity to inspect Anura’s S25 demonstration system up close. The request came from a long-standing customer dealing with limited tidal access and increasing difficulty launching solo. “Without a solution, he’d be forced to give up fishing altogether,” explains Phil Byrom, director of Warrior Boats.

“That meeting at [Metstrade] gave us complete confidence,” says Byrom. “We looked at other systems, but Anura came across as the most professional. We did our research on the boatbuilders using Anura in New Zealand — and they’ve got an impressive portfolio. We just felt more at ease going down this route.”

Warrior believes the benefits of the Anura amphibious system will be immediately clear to customers, especially those launching from beaches or areas with limited access. In the UK, where many launch points are vehicle-restricted, this capability is a natural fit.

“We’re thrilled to work with Warrior,” says Rory McClennan, Anura European sales manager. “They’re experienced, forward-thinking, and their commitment to innovation aligns perfectly with our vision.”

Warrior has been in operation for 30 years and has produced over 3,500 craft.
