New Gemini Waverider GRP CABIN RIB launched
Based on its WR880 & WR1060 hulls, South African based Gemini Marine has launched a new version of its Gemini Waverider WR1060 with a completely renewed Cabin. The first demo model has been completed by novi marine.
This new cabin RIB has been developed specifically for professional use by emergency services and maritime contractors in coastal waters due to the demand from the commercial market to be able to better protect crew against weather and environmental conditions during longer stays on the water.
It’s available in a standard version (WR880 & WR1060) seating up to six people and in an extended version (WR1060 only) with capacity for 10 people.
Gemini uses vacuum infusion technology with foam core to manufacture the GRP cabin, keeping the weight down while not compromising on strength. Windows and entrance doors have been supplied by UK based company Seaglaze. The wheelhouse can be supplied with an open rear or with a closed rear bulkhead, including access door and rear windows and the foredeck can be safely accessed via a front door in the cabin’s forecastle.
The Gemini Cabin RIBs are said to be suited for use in patrol activities, support with shipping guidance, carrying out security tasks, evacuation intervention, search and rescue, support during diving work, or for transporting crew and light cargo to ships.
This first demo Gemini WR1060 GRP CABIN RIB is equipped by novi marine with Ullman Dynamics® seats, with driver and navigator protected by Ullman® Echelon shock-absorbing seats with 3-Dimensional suspension technology and adjustable sliders with 300mm of travel, accommodating driving ergonomics in both sitting and standing positions. The passenger seats are Ullman Biscaya suspension seats with the new MK3 storage base (allowing additional 36 litres of compartment space per seat) and narrow handles to free up space in the aisle.
Propulsion is provided by two Yamaha F300BTEX outboard engines, giving a top speed of over 50 knots, while a Vetus BowPro 42 kgf proportional and brushless thruster assists the 11m by 3.15m vessel to manoeuvring accurately with strong crosswinds.
Navigation and communication capabilities are provided by the Simrad NSS16 EVO3S HD multi-functional displays, the latest Simrad Halo 20+ pulse compression radar dome and a FLIR M232 thermal camera, mounted on a folding navigation bracket.
The Gemini Waverider WR1060 GRP Cabin RIB also features washing facilities and a toilet, a heavy-duty bow fender with hand-held radiation for safer transfers, a Jason Cradle for boarding drowning people and a sturdy diving ladder on the A-frame.
With a full CE-B marking, the RIB also complies with the English MCA Workboat Code 2 and can optionally be supplied with a category 2 60nM certificate of class. A class certificate for the hull by an IACS is also available on request.
Prices start from € 99,000 excl. VAT.
