Italian yacht builder Wider has appointed Norberto Ferretti, co-founder of Ferretti Yachts, as honorary president of its board as part of an overall brand restructuring.

Massimo Iacono, already part of the firm’s executive body, is stepping up to lead the board.

The move by Marcello Maggi, president of W-Fin Sarl, the holding company that owns 100 per cent of Wider’s capital, reinforces the company’s decision-making structure.

Wider says the collaboration with Norberto Ferretti represents a significant enhancement in terms of capabilities and expertise, in line with the relaunch and development goals outlined by Maggi and the company’s CEO Fabio Fraternale, also confirmed in the new board.

Norberto Ferretti co-founded the renowned brand Ferretti Yachts in 1968, along with his brother Alessandro. Wider says Ferretti’s experience will contribute decisively to the development of future yachts, supporting Marcello Maggi within the Product Development Committee, as well as in the future growth strategies of the shipyard.

“I am very happy that our paths cross again,” says Maggi, “Norberto’s know-how in product development is invaluable, and his authoritative presence confirms the relevance of the Wider brand, which I have firmly focused on, within the international yachting market.”

Fraternale adds: “I am very pleased with the presence of Norberto Ferretti, who, in my previous experience in the eponymous group, has been a solid reference point and an important guide.”

Wider says 2024 will be a year full of news for the shipyard, which is preparing for the launch of two new models: the WiderCat 92, a catamaran designed by Luca Dini and powered by serial hybrid propulsion, and the sporty WiLder 60, by Wider Centro Stile.

“What fascinates me most about Wider is its pioneering side,” says Norberto Ferretti. “Here, tomorrow is not considered an uncertainty but a starting point. The relaunch path taken in recent years is truly stimulating; I am ready to contribute to shaping the products and technologies of the shipyard’s future.”
