OMS wins contract to build Southern Wind yachts

Ocean Marine Systems (OMS) has been awarded the contract for three further Southern Wind yachts in build following the completion of S/Y Taniwha in 2021 and S/Y Sorvind in 2022.

OMS supplies lightweight retracting thrusters for the bow and stern of the 96, 105 and the new 108 Southern Wind models. The OMS units have been selected as it’s said they provide fully proportional thrust control yet offer easy boat yard installation.

“We have enjoyed working closely with Southern Wind over the last three years,” comments Mark Barwell, sales director for OMS. “During this time, we have commissioned four units and visited their Cape Town facility to train and assist their team on the install of our thrusters.”

“Southern Wind aims to provide its clients with a high-quality after-sales service,” says Hilton Van Ginkel, Southern Wind’s systems technical coordinator. “OMS is a valid partner, both during the yacht’s construction and throughout the life of a yacht. We wish to thank OMS for their always professional collaboration.”

OMS products are used in the large yacht, superyacht, and commercial marine sectors. The products are designed and manufactured at their UK-based factory and exported worldwide.
