OneSails appoints new UK dealer
OneSails has appointed Daryl Morgan as a new UK dealer. Based in Poole on the UK’s south coast, Morgan brings over 40 years of experience in sailmaking, including design, production, product development and loft management.
Morgan began his career in 1980 as an apprentice with Portsmouth-based WG Lucas and Son before moving into One Design and service roles at North Sails. He later joined Banks Sails UK, working with designer Ken Rose on Checkmate radial sails.
His experience also includes managing sail lofts in St Maarten and Barbados.
On returning to the UK from the Caribbean, Morgan became loft manager at Doyle Sails and worked on projects ranging from multihulls and Six Metres to Etchells and J Class yachts. He later held roles at UK Halsey Swanwick as loft manager and designer, followed by a position with Banks Sails, where he supported design and sales across domestic and international markets.
In 2015, Morgan joined Bainbridge International as product manager for sail and cover.
Morgan now returns to hands-on sailmaking and says he is particularly enthusiastic about OneSails’ technical approach, including its ‘recyclable’ 4T Forte composite membrane technology. The firm clarifies that ‘recyclable’ refers to the base polymer, which is 100 per cent recyclable in a standard waste separation process.
“It feels like a homecoming,” says Morgan. “I’ve come full circle back to the work I love — crafting sails and working directly with sailors. OneSails’ technology, values, and forward-thinking approach to sustainable sailmaking make this the perfect fit.”
Wilf Chaplin, lead sail designer at the OneSails Hamble sail loft, adds: “We are excited to have Daryl onboard, and we feel he will bring a whole wealth of experience and expertise to our South Coast set up.”
OneSails’ Poole-based operation now offers sail design and consultation, performance optimisation and recuts, repairs and servicing, and guidance on materials and sustainability for both UK and international clients.
