Performance Marine Group opens new ILCA production facility

Australia’s Performance Marine Group has opened a 23,000 sq ft boatbuilding facility in Morisset, New South Wales, dedicated to the manufacture of ILCA class dinghies.
The site, located at 1-51/57 Advantage Avenue, has more than 50 ILCA boats currently in production. PMG says these Olympic-class vessels are seeing increased demand in domestic and international markets.
The new facility incorporates carbon fibre manufacturing technologies, which the firm says are being used to develop a new high-performance boat range scheduled for release later in 2025. Six jobs have been created so far, with further recruitment expected as production output increases. Two local high school students are also participating in a new work experience programme, for one day a week, at the facility.
“This facility represents a new era for Performance Marine Group,” says Nick Ogden, chairman of Performance Marine Group. “We’re proud to be supporting Australian manufacturing, creating local jobs, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in small watercraft innovation.
“The new Performance Marine Group boatbuilding factory will not only provide a dedicated facility in response to rising orders, creating the need for heightened production and quicker delivery of our Olympic-standard ILCA’s for athletes in the region and across the world, but will also provide several careers and opportunities for the local community.”

Performance Marine Group operates globally across competitive and endurance boating through two divisions: Performance Sailcraft and Performance Powercraft. The company builds vessels for Olympic-class sailing and UIM world-record-level powerboating. Performance Sailcraft has over 70 years of experience in the ILCA class and produces dinghies using original moulds from boats that have contributed to Olympic medal successes.
The company also runs the Performance Marine Team, an international sports development programme focused on advancing high-performance sailing.
