RoboBuoy scales floating GolfShotBot deployment
RoboBuoy, the marine robotics company behind the MarkSetBot autonomous sailing mark system, is seeing increasing adoption of its GolfShotBot floating golf target across some of the world’s most recognised golf events.
The floating, self-propelled golf target system is increasingly being deployed across major international sporting events, including corporate hospitality and promotional activations linked to the U.S. Open, Ryder Cup and Senior PGA Championship.
Leveraging RoboBuoy’s autonomous aquatic positioning platform, GolfShotBot is now being used by leading golf organisations and event partners to create interactive, on-water golf experiences that extend beyond traditional course environments.
The system can be virtually anchored in place or programmed to move, allowing operators to create dynamic golf experiences on the water. When paired with biodegradable golf balls, it enables safe deployment in environmentally sensitive locations.
GolfShotBot utilises GPS spot-lock technology to hold station without physical anchors, even in strong winds or currents. Controlled via a mobile application, the system can be virtually anchored or programmed to follow dynamic routes, allowing waterfront venues, luxury resorts and event operators to establish pop-up driving ranges.
The company is now targeting yacht clubs, waterfront resorts, marinas and private owners, positioning GolfShotBot as a premium amenity for events, hospitality and guest experiences.
Across multiple activations, the product has been paired with Zero Ball, a biodegradable golf ball created by Splash City Golf.
“GolfShotBot is proving to be a simple but powerful way to bring golf into new environments,” says Pete Siek, sales manager at MarkSetBot. “We’re seeing strong interest from major event organisers who want to create something interactive, visual and shareable.
“This is about extending the game of golf beyond the course,” added Siek. “Whether it’s a tournament activation, a resort experience or something off the back of a yacht, the format is simple, flexible and proven to engage people.”
Growing presence across major golf events
2024 US Open
At the 2024 US Open in Pinehurst, the USGA hosted a lakeside event incorporating a custom-branded GolfShotBot activation as part of its hospitality programme. Guests were invited to hit biodegradable golf balls toward a floating target, adding an interactive element to the pre-tournament experience and demonstrating how the format can be integrated into premium event settings.
2025 Ryder Cup
Ahead of the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, the PGA of America staged a promotional activation featuring team captains Keegan Bradley (USA) and Luke Donald (Europe).
From a yacht on the Hudson River, both captains hit biodegradable golf balls toward a GolfShotBot deployed in the water. The event highlighted the flexibility of the system across different environments, including urban waterfronts and high-profile media campaigns.
2026 Senior PGA Championship
Most recently, GolfShotBot featured as part of ‘Golf Coast Drive’, a beachfront event held ahead of the 2026 Senior PGA Championship at The Concession Golf Club.
Organised by the Bradenton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, the event brought together members of the public, youth groups including First Tee, and celebrity guests to take part in a beachfront golf experience at Coquina Beach.
Participants hit Zero Biodegradable Golf Balls toward branded GolfShotBot targets, demonstrating the format’s appeal as an accessible, family-friendly and visually engaging extension of the game.
