Isle of Wight-based maritime education and training charity, UKSA is recruiting 45 new staff members to join its activity teams for the 2023 season. The roles available include watersports instructors, activity leads and watersports senior training instructors.

The charity says that with demand for instructors at an all-time high in holiday destinations worldwide, it has funding options for up to 100 per cent of course fees for candidates on its seven-week Staff Watersports Instructor Training course, starting in March 2023. This training enables students to become RYA qualified and provides instructor jobs with UKSA upon graduation.

“We’re really excited to have such a large number of positions available to start with us in March,” says Chris Frisby, director of training and operations at UKSA. “We know there are lots of young people who want to work in the watersports industry but who may not be able to afford the initial training, so this opportunity shouldn’t be missed.”

A number of positions delivering shore-based activities and support watersports instructors onshore are also available. No experience is required for these activity lead roles, as in-house training is provided.

Graduates from UKSA’s training courses last year have found employment in the yachting industry and as watersports instructors in the UK and Caribbean, with others continuing their marine education and undertaking a Maritime Foundation Course at UKSA.

Earlier this month (December 2022), the UKSA and recruiter SYR partnered to promote diversity in maritime careers.
