Sailing Today and Yachts & Yachting magazines to merge for duration of COVID-19 outbreak

Two of Britain’s leading sailing magazines, Sailing Today and Yachts & Yachting, are to merge and join forces for the duration of the current crisis.

The new title, to be called “Sailing Today with Yachts & Yachting”, will contain the most popular columns and features from both brands as well as extra pages.

“We have taken the view that a single, larger sailing title will benefit everyone at the present time,” says publisher, Simon Temlett. “Together we are stronger.”

The first new combined issue, containing more pages and more content, will go on sale from Friday May 1, price £4.95. Subscribers to both magazines will be sent the new combined title.

But how will this affect advertisers? The group claims that advertising clients will benefit from double the usual circulation for the same spend. “It’s a terrific opportunity to reach twice as many sailing enthusiasts, all sitting at home with more time than ever to read magazines, but just itching to get out on the water again,” says group sales manager, Jodie Green.

“This will give readers the best of both brands,” adds editor, Sam Jefferson, “so they can enjoy the finest sailing writing and photography available. Whatever your favourite form of sailing, we’ll have it!”

Meanwhile, the Sailing Today and Yachts & Yachting websites and newsletters, with their large independent databases of dedicated sailors, will remain standalone so that advertisers can continue to reach their specific marketplace.
