Sailor to champion Inland and Coastal’s pontoons during Seawork 2025

Inland and Coastal Marina Systems will attend the 32nd UK Harbour Masters’ Association (UKHMA) Annual General Meeting and Members’ Summer Luncheon, taking place on Wednesday 11 June during this year’s Seawork Exhibition at Mayflower Park, Southampton, on the UK south coast.
As part of the AGM programme, author and sailor Mark Ashley-Miller will give a talk on the release of his new book Harbours and Their Masters. The book documents Ashley-Miller’s 9,000-nautical-mile voyage to meet every harbour master in the UK, a five-year project during which he visited 310 harbours and interviewed 256 harbour masters to record their experiences and traditions.
During the presentation, Ashley-Miller will discuss the role of Inland and Coastal pontoons in supporting his voyage by aiding safe docking and mooring, reflecting the company’s Get Onboard Safely initiative.
“Time and time again, I witnessed first-hand the critical role pontoons play – offering a lifeline between sea and land,” says Ashley-Miller. “I can recall countless occasions where the robust design of an Inland and Coastal pontoon made docking in tricky weather conditions safe and straightforward. Whether it was in the rough seas of Scotland or the tidal challenges of the English Channel, the pontoon manufacturer’s innovative engineering shone through.”
Jon Challis, sales manager at Inland and Coastal, says: “Mark’s project has shone a spotlight on the vital role harbour masters play and the operational challenges they face daily. At Inland and Coastal, we’re proud to support these professionals with dependable water access infrastructure built to withstand the toughest marine environments – so everyone can walk to work safely.”
Attendees of the AGM will also be able to meet Ashley-Miller and learn more about Harbours and Their Masters. The book features a foreword by Princess Anne and raises funds for The Seafarers’ Charity through the donation of all author royalties. The official book launch will take place at the Southampton International Boat Show on 19 September 2025.
