Sanctuary Cove Boat Show organiser appoints new general manager

Mulpha Events has appointed Claire Back as general manager for events and partnerships, with the role commencing on 28 April 2025.
Mulpha Events is the organiser of a number of national events in Australia, including the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, the Gold Coast Festival of Golf and the Australian Adventure Expo.
In February, MIN reported that the Australian marine industry was entering a normalisation phase following exceptional demand that surged from mid-2020 to early 2024.
Back has over 20 years of experience in the Australian events sector, including food and wine, motorsport and fashion. Her previous senior positions include general manager of marketing and experience at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix and, most recently, acting chief operating officer at the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival.
She has worked across a range of event formats and industries, with experience in brand development, partnership management and team leadership.
“What drew me to Mulpha Events is its unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and delivering events that are not just world-class — but genuinely meaningful,” says Back. “With such a diverse portfolio, a focus on sustainability, and deep audience insight, there’s huge creative potential here. I’m excited to join a team with bold ambition and real heart.
“This role is about relationships — within our team, and across our industry networks. Collaboration is where the magic happens, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Patrick Lonergan, head of hotels, hospitality and leisure at Mulpha Australia, says: “Claire is a transformational leader with a rare blend of strategic foresight, creativity, and operational excellence. Her deep experience in sponsorships and partnerships makes her a natural fit for our events team, where collaboration with industry, stakeholders, and brand partners is at the core of what we do. She’s joining an already outstanding team, and together they’ll help shape the next generation of exceptional, high-impact events.”
Mulpha Evants is also an event delivery partner to the Boating Industry Association, supporting the development of marine and lifestyle events across Australia. The business currently operates in the marine, sport, lifestyle and adventure sectors.
