Finnish shipyard Saxdor Yachts has appointed Don Smith as president of sales for the Americas, effective 1 January 2026. The role is based in the Americas and forms part of the company’s commercial leadership structure.

Smith has more than 40 years of executive experience in the marine sector, with a background in sales leadership, dealer network development and market expansion. His previous roles include senior positions at Groupe Beneteau, Brunswick, Regal Marine, MarineMax and Galati Yacht Sales.

In his new position, Smith is responsible for leading Saxdor Yachts’ commercial operations across the Americas. His remit includes overseeing sales activity, supporting the development of the brand’s product presence in the region and working with dealers to develop and maintain the distribution network.

“Don’s leadership and deep industry expertise make him the ideal choice to accelerate Saxdor’s growth in the Americas,” says Aki Juhakorpi, chief commercial officer of Saxdor Yachts. “We’re excited to welcome him to the team.”

The appointment comes as Saxdor Yachts continues to develop its operations in the Americas, alongside plans to broaden its product offering and consolidate its market position in the region. In October 2025, Saxdor announced a 49 per cent year-over-year increase in US sales and a projected 70 per cent growth in global revenue.

Founded in 2019, Saxdor Yachts’ model range spans 20ft to over 40ft. The company delivered its first boat in 2020 and has since produced nine models, with annual output of around 700 boats. Its workforce numbers approximately 1,000 people.

Saxdor Yachts operates a dealer network across five continents, with around 150 locations. The company is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, with a shipyard in Elk, Poland, and production facilities in Larsmo, Finland.
