Seawork 2025: Perkins Marine launches new propulsion range

Perkins marine M245C engine

UK-based engine maker Perkins Marine is presenting a concept design from its forthcoming propulsion range, the Perkins M245C, at Seawork International 2025 in Southampton, which runs until 12 June.

The M245C is a 6-cylinder, 249 HP engine and forms part of a development programme that also includes the M175C and M200C. These engines are designed for use in both commercial and leisure marine applications.

The propulsion range has been designed to support a range of installation scenarios, with flexibility for new builds and ease of repower applications.

Design and validation of the new propulsion platform is ongoing at the company’s marine headquarters in Wimborne, UK. The site has been producing marine engines since the 1960s. Plans include field testing aboard commercial workboats to assess operational performance and durability.

The firm says the new engines are being developed to comply with current and upcoming emissions regulations. Production of the range is planned for 2026, with orders opening in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The concept M245C is on display at Stand E35 at Seawork International, which runs until 12 June 2025, where it will be shown alongside the Perkins E44 auxiliary engine.

In a statement, the firm says the new range is “built to perform in tough marine environments — whether navigating coastal waters or enduring offshore demands.”
