Italy-headquartered gyro stabilisation company, Smartgyro, has appointed Yacht Master Marine as a certified dealer in the UK, bringing the Plymouth-based company into its dealer network.
Yacht Master Marine provides refit, maintenance and installation services and will support Smartgyro’s range of gyro stabilisers.
The business was founded by Carl Pook, a marine engineer with more than 15 years of experience in the yacht sector. Yacht Master Marine has completed more than 200 gyro stabiliser installations across a range of vessel types and shipyard environments. Work ranges from smaller upgrades to full system installations, with commissioning and ongoing support also offered in the UK and the Mediterranean.
Smartgyro, which is part of the Yanmar Group, says its stabilisers are built around a modular design intended to simplify installation and servicing. Under the agreement, Yacht Master Marine will have access to Smartgyro’s full product line-up.

Pieter Feenstra, Smartgyro sales director, said: “We are excited to welcome Yacht Master Marine to our expanding dealer network. This collaboration further enhances our ability to offer cutting-edge stabilisation solutions in the United Kingdom, and Yacht Master’s proven dedication and experience will be a great asset to Smartgyro customers.”
Carl Pook, owner of Yacht Master Marine, says: “Smartgyro represents a major opportunity within the stabilisation market. It’s a highly capable system that, when installed and configured correctly, delivers real, tangible improvements to onboard comfort and vessel usability. Our focus is to deliver a solution that works exactly as the client expects, every time they step on board. We are looking forward to supporting the growth of Smartgyro in the UK market and building long-term confidence in their products.”
Smartgyro says its stabilisation systems are designed to be serviced onboard. This allows inspections, repairs and component replacements to be carried out without removing the vessel from the water.
The company adds that its modular approach allows components to be disassembled and moved through existing openings below deck during installation.
Smartgyro systems use a liquid-cooling system, hybrid ceramic ball bearings, and control electronics incorporating an inertial measurement unit (IMU) to provide real-time data.
