SMS Group launches standalone interiors brand
David McCarthy is the new managing director of SMS Marine Interiors
SMS Group’s interiors division has adopted the name SMS Marine Interiors and launched a standalone website as part of changes to its branding and management structure.
The Southampton-based business provides marine refurbishment and interior outfit services, while the wider SMS Group provides marine engineering services. It has appointed a managing director, David McCarthy, to lead SMS Marine Interiors.
SMS Marine Interiors represents a significant proportion of group sales and has recorded year-on-year growth for the past five years.
David McCarthy, the division’s new managing director, says: “The last few months have seen an exciting period of change. Creating a stand-alone website and branding that’s clean, strong and coherent, that has both an affiliation to the group and to our core values – pride in ownership and trust in delivery – I proudly take on the role of managing director.”
McCarthy adds: “As our business continues to grow, we’ve made the decision to differentiate ourselves from the group.
“This further strengthens our unique reputation in the interior outfit space, delivering a superior level of service and partnership with clients, coupled with a quality product delivered in a timely and economical fashion.
“Serving an ever-expanding customer list, SMS Marine Interiors continues to offer all-encompassing solutions for refit and refurbishment projects, hard surface repairs and rectification.”
McCarthy previously served aboard vessels with P&O Cruises before moving into senior executive roles at Carnival UK and design agency AD Associates. He has also worked on newbuilding projects with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NCLH) and held a role at SMS Group.
He sits on the advisory board of Cruise Ship Interiors and brings experience from across the cruise and marine interiors sectors.
SMS Marine Interiors is based in Southampton, UK. The company provides marine refurbishment and interior outfit solutions, while SMS Group operates from nine locations across the UK and from Tampa, Florida, in the US.
