SailGP has confirmed the sale of the Los Gallos SailGP Team (Spain) to Quantum Pacific Group. Quantum Pacific, an investor in sports assets, is the holding company of Israeli shipping tycoon Idan Ofer, who Forbes estimates is worth US$34.8bn.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. However, the amount is likely to be around $60m (£45m), which is what Orlando Magic owner Doug DeVos paid for the Danish-based Rockwool Racing SailGP Team in February.

Ofer, through Quantum Pacific, maintains several investments in Iberian sports organisations, including FC Famalicão in Portugal and the Spanish cycling team Movistar. Ofer owns a 33 per cent stake in Spain’s Atlético Madrid football club.

Los Gallos enters new ownership following strong recent results, including winning the Season 4 Championship. The team is led by Olympic champions Diego Botín and Florian Trittel, with strategist Nicole van der Velden.

SailGP managing director Andrew Thompson says: “This is another hugely significant milestone for SailGP and for the continued growth of the championship. Quantum Pacific brings a deep understanding of sport performance, commercial success and the maritime world. Spain is a cornerstone market for us, defined by its rich sporting culture, incredibly passionate fanbase and a winning SailGP team, and we’re proud to see the team enter this next phase with such a strong ownership group behind it.”

Antoine Bonnier, CEO of Quantum Pacific adds: “We are delighted to welcome Los Gallos into the Quantum Pacific family. The Spanish team is a natural fit for Quantum Pacific. The Iberian region is a market we know well and believe in fully, and SailGP, with its global audience and elite competitive format, is exactly the kind of high-growth sport platform we believe in. We are here to win, and we are here to build something that lasts.”

The acquisition means 12 of the 13 teams have now been sold by SailGP.

In 2025, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds were named as two new co-owners of Australia’s freshly rebranded Bonds Flying Roos SailGP Team. They were following in the footsteps of Hollywood star Anne Hathaway, who also bought into the Red Bull Italy SailGP team last year. Coalition Capital, owned by French football superstar Kylian Mbappé, has also invested in the France SailGP Team.

Antonio Alquézar, CEO of the Los Gallos SailGP Team, says: “Welcoming Quantum Pacific as the new owner of the team marks a significant milestone in our journey. Their unmatched experience in sport provides us with the platform to build on our recent strong performances and to deliver the next phase of our success. We are grateful to SailGP for their support, and as a team, we are excited to begin this new chapter with greater ambition and a clear long-term vision.”

Spain remains a core market for the league. The championship is scheduled to hold an event in Valencia on 5-6 September 2026, following previous editions in Cádiz.

As part of the transaction, Amit Singh and Harry Odling will join the Los Gallos board. Tifosy Capital and Advisory is acting as financial advisor to Quantum Pacific, while Uría Menéndez is providing legal counsel.

The news comes as the Bonds Flying Roos claimed victory in the inaugural Enel Rio Sail Grand Prix this weekend (11-12 April 2026) – their second event win of the 2026 season. Australia now move into the top spot in the Rolex SailGP Championship standings after a disastrous weekend from Emirates GBR, who now sit second overall. Artemis made their first event final, finishing third in Rio ahead of Los Gallos in second.
