Sunpower Yachts appoints exclusive distributor in Queensland

Queensland boat dealer Spirit Marine has been appointed the exclusive distributor for solar electric yacht manufacturer Sunpower Yachts in the Queensland market.
Spirit Marine will represent Sunpower’s range of Solar e-Cruiser, Solar e-Sail, Solar e-Poweryachts and Solar e-Superyachts within the region.
Australian-owned Sunpower Yachts recently acquired German builder of electric solar catamarans and sailboats, Alva Yachts. Peter Nicholson, founder of Spirit Marine, describes this development as a significant milestone for himself and the brokerage.
“Sunpower is at the forefront of solar electric yachting, consistently setting a benchmark in efficiency, performance, comfort and environmental responsibility, whilst still producing sleekly designed vessels,” says Nicholson.
He adds: “Following its recent acquisition of Alva Yachts, the firm is well-positioned to build on its existing reputation as a leader in the luxury eco-yacht market. This combination of cutting-edge technology, performance and luxury is why Spirit Marine is so excited about this announcement, as we see this having the potential to become one of the country’s leading boating brands.”
Spirit Marine operates in Queensland and acts as Beneteau’s Queensland partner for outboard power and sailboat ranges, including the Antares range of cruisers.
Sunpower Yachts has sold 12 yachts ranging from 44ft to 90ft, and says it maintains the world’s largest fleet of solar electric vessels.
“Our goal as a brand is to showcase that being eco-friendly does not mean sacrificing performance, design or range,” says Grant Hudson, spokesperson for Sunpower Yachts.
He continues: “Partnering with reputable boat dealers like Spirit Marine is part of our strategy to build the prominence of our brand and educate the boating community about the positive attributes of our vessels.”
